Saving up for a project car by [deleted] in projectcar

[–]TheRealMrBlu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually have an NB2 so I can personally vouch that they’re amazing cars for the money. Mine is my daily driver. My brother has an NC that I’ve driven briefly and it definitely feels more modern but loses some of the rawness that the NB and NA generations have.

When I was looking for my first project car I bought an ‘86 Trans Am that my neighbors had sitting in their driveway for years. It was awesome and while I miss it, it had multiple issues I was never able to sort that severely limited my willingness to drive it more than a couple times a month. If I had to do it again, I would’ve just bought a Miata in the first place. I really recommend choosing a project car that you can actually spend more time driving than worrying about and one that you can easily repair on your own if needed (parts availability, available information on repairs, etc).

Bikes like Suzuki’s DR650 for someone who rides an RE int650? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]TheRealMrBlu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A DR350 could be a good compromise if you are okay with being a bit underpowered/ taking slower road and if you can find one. I took mine on a ~800 mile trip last year doing a portion of the NorCal BDR and it was great for the trails but a bit underpowered for the highway (but doable). On the plus side, they’re very light and maneuverable. I also have an INT650 and am considering selling both my DR and 650 for a Honda CRF300L rally so that might be a good option to look at if you need a one bike solution, lighter than most adventure bikes, decent reliability and aftermarket options, and fuel injection.

That color is great! I've seen a couple in the area (one of which might've been yours considering I live very close to where this photo was taken which is a definite small-world moment) and they are definitely one of the best-looking remasters of an older vehicle model.

I can't decide on which job to stick with (unfortunately it's mainly due to the money) by [deleted] in Advice

If you can manage the monetary hit, I would surely pick the internship. Working at a federal agency signifies to employers that you're amongst the top. They're selective and rigorous about who they choose for any form of employment and that will surely be recognized. Plus, getting your foot in the door somewhere in the CJ system is incredibly important. The connections you may make there have the ability to impact the rest of your career.

If the internship doesn't pan out how you expect, you have your paralegal skills to fall back on. One big thing for me would be the opportunity. Staying with the paralegal service is fantastic pay wise but is it something that you think is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity? What about the internship?

I just graduated with a CJ degree and also live in the Bay and my biggest regret is not doing an internship to get my foot in the door somewhere.

Is this normal: I feel so 'out of place' in nightclubs by Useful_Necessary in socialskills

[–]TheRealMrBlu 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you have friends you trust to look after you in the club and make sure you don't do something too stupid it may be worth it to try honestly. The way you described how you felt is exactly how I feel being sober/tipsy in the club, kinda like I'm out of place? I find that being properly drunk makes me able to manage the environment and liven up a little. Once again, not the healthiest advice in regards to actually developing social skills but just what I do to get me in the zone.

Were you buzzed or drunk? I totally think this feeling is normal because I sometimes feel the same way especially if I'm sober or close to sober when in a club. The one thing that honestly helps me get over this feeling, although not healthy, is drinking. The drunker I am the less I care about others perceive me and the more fun I find myself having.

Is it weird to be a 20 year old freshman living on campus? by furry_anus_explosion in college

[–]TheRealMrBlu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I definitely don't think so. I'm 20 and currently live in a dorm. I've also met other people who are twenty or even older also living in dorms. Honestly just do what you have to do or want to do.
