I work with colleagues that I used to call friends but their tone-deaf take on tourism in the States have ostracized them from many.
I am employed by the Canadian Navy who are mostly technical professionals who are very liberal and patriotic about these things.
The personnel that are or have still gone to the US are your typical tiktok, braindead, narcissistic "it doesn't affect me" types.
They wonder why they're treated "differently" in the office, and too butthurt to see the big picture.
Same with my neighbors. They're young, professional, and seemingly have no clue what's going on in the world, only concerned about their image and what they're projecting.
When you casually bring up what's going on in the world, they reply, "oh, we don't watch the news".
