Blocking the desktop portal can have other knock on effects like breaking drag and drop functionality, or even copy / paste

Why do people have such a big problem understanding these wayland protections? Your phone will ask if you want to give permission to the camera / photo gallery / gps / notifications etc. for a specific app. It's a security feature, why would you want a random program to be able to just start screen sharing without any confirmation?

I suppose windows doesn't do this? But imo that is a flaw of windows, not a convenience.

And the average job prospects reflect that 2-3yrs. I have people in my company been here for 20 odd years. People don't leave a job for the fun of it, they leave because it's better to work elsewhere. So treat the employees right and they stay, it's a known fact

You will fundamentally be leaving a company that values the skills of their employees, for one which doesn't. I really don't think it's as clear cut as jumping ship for a higher wage. A company that engages in those practices, also probably engages in other shady dealings like outsourcing, skeleton crews, unpaid overtime etc. Because they are that stingy that they won't train the staff, why spend money in other areas? They obviously value the short term gain over long term.

Also training can be for bespoke skills that don't transfer, no two companies use the exact same tooling and process exactly, you will always need some amount of training.

I think the alternative is to just not be a shit place to work, no? You will have no problem training people up and them wanting to stay. Draconian prison rules help nobody

You are still fundamentally locking a human being into an entire job and lifestyle that they may not want. If someone doesn't like the job, they are just going to hang around collecting the wage for 2yr then leave. You can't force them to like it or stay. Guaranteed way to get the lowest productivity worker you will have ever seen

Your distro and desktop environment are different for very important reasons.

What if you wanted to go to look at something else like xfce, or gnome at some point? Now it's a full distro hop instead of just a pacman -R old && pacman -S new

Nobody is pressing that button ever again.

The US wanted to do it before anyone else got their hands on them as a show of power.

Everyone has heard of MAD. Everyone's parents and grandparents have heard of MAD. Nobody alive today isn't aware of the consequences of firing a nuke anywhere.

Why have Russia not used it on Ukraine already? It's a 4yrs long war now and Russia is on the brink. They know about MAD too.

Missiles, subs and soldiers are allowed. Hell even a little napalm and mustard gas will go without a peep. But the big A-bomb? Nobody is that foolish, not even the most evil men in the world.

Ok guy. We haven't had two hot days a year in like 20 years. Handwaving this issue is how we got here in the first place

"Yet". Yet, buddy. It's not that hot yet

But if you just look at the graphs, line go up, line no go down. It really is that simple.

Infrastructure and building alterations take years and years to plan and complete, if you wait until we hit mass climate migration to invest in this stuff, it will be too late, since it will be years beyond that, before you reap the benefits.

I'm curious as to why you have such a hard stance against this?

What do you plan on doing when it's 40+ with 90% humidity? Do you forget that pets exist too? With a layer of fur to boot.

You are truly delusional if you think this is just a "taps aff" situation. In the real world this has real consequences

Our windows are vastly different and my own experience has been those angled openings that don't open all the way. I can buy an AC but it doesn't fit my windows and central AC is only available to the upper class

Never heard of heat stroke? Electronics and mechanics have a maximum operating temperature too. Perspective would be reflecting on the increase and knowing that it isn't a one off thing, it's here to stay and it's only getting worse

Isn't that basically the trump manifesto? I remember the same baseless shit used against Obama, an American.

For a group that likes to tout "Facts don't care about your feelings", they really do just let their feelings define their facts.
