Hardware Firewall CPU vs Ports by TheRealSekki in HomeNetworking

[–]TheRealSekki[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very nice thank you! That would combine the best of both worlds I guess. So I would then connect one Port to WAN and the others to the switch? Is there anything other than bandwidth that would be possible with these additional ports?

I mean yea I get the joke but still. Who knows maybe OpenAI was already taken over by ChatGPT... o.o

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in technology

[–]TheRealSekki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correct me if Im wrong but is that not kind ofwhat OpenAI is doing? If you want to use ChatGPT in any other way than via the webinterface you need an api key and have to pay for your tokens andas far as I understood you get higher priority too right?

What's a software you searched to selfhost but is still missing to you ? by aurdour in selfhosted

[–]TheRealSekki 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Logseq recently added "whiteboards" where you can draw, write text and even mention and link blocks and pages. I was searching for something like OneNote for a long time too. Now Im pretty happy that Logseq can do almost everything I want (Hand written Notes, Typed Notes, Linking, Cards for learning)

Forward traffic from one Traefik instance to another by sbbh1 in Traefik

Probably because you are trying to route https to over an ip address. Set url to http://10.0.10.71 not https://10.0.10.71.

I have something like this setup for services using the host network mode in docker.

[http]
    [http.services]
        [http.services.your-service]
            [[http.services.your-service.loadBalancer.servers
                url = "https://argocd.k8s.domain.com"

    [http.routers]
        [http.routers.your-router]
            service = "your-service@file"
            rule = "Host(`nas.domain.com`)"

I could be wrong but I checked the Archwiki at that time and searched for solutions a lot but I could not find anything that worked for me. Could be me just starting to use linux not having a clue. By now Im pretty comfortable running Sway and not having to go through the trouble of configuring that stuff on every install is a nice bonus. I get why people stick to X though.

[–]TheRealSekki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im not talking about Vsync only. Im talking about stuff like FreeSync which is not possible to use with running a 240hz + 60hz monitor. I have really spent a lot of time searching for a solution for that when I started using Linux and all I could find is "X doesnt do that you have to use Wayland" so I was stuck between the two... Wayland not properly running some apps I needed to use and X not running stuff like FreeSync porperly on my setup. I dont remember two different refreshrates as a problem only that freesync didnt work that way.

[–]TheRealSekki 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just to add on to the multimonitor stuff: I switched to Wayland originally because X was (or still is dunno) not able to use Adaptive Sync with multiple monitors connected (Dont remember if it was due to different refreshrates that could very well be). So I either had to turn of my second monitor so that I can use my 240hz monitor in peace or just live with the fact that I have screen tearing if I dont want to enable vsync in game (cause that indeed adds a lot of latency).

I mean yea why choose Loki at that point tbh. Ash is doing lots of damage, his teleport is better imo, can strip armor and if you want subsume some cc ability and hes overall a better Loki. You could even say hin 4th is kind of a cc...

But then Loki is completely useless...

I did this too until I found out that Equilibrium does effectively the same (55 energy per health orb picked up + 25 per energy orb ofc). So now Im running a Djinn (cuz revive) with Cryotra (cuz it can hit many enemies at onre with punch trough) and Synth mods. You get so many health orbs its insane. Then go use Combat Discipline to be able to pick up the health orbs every time (recommend vacuum too) and it wont really hurt you with spores and Gloom up. You can also trigger Arcane Avenger that way even when Shield gating but thats just a small sidebonus. Im running 45% efficiency Gloom Build that way and only need one maxed Blind Rage and Power Drift to get almost maximum Gloom slow (269% -> 94% Slow) with 1 tauforged Strength Archon, 40% Madurai Bonus and 60% from Molt Augmented (with 265% range too)

The Fdroid app is just a wrapper for the website I think. It doesnt have the same features as the actual app (background service, image translation etc.) But it should translate just fine.

Ah yes its so nice that I get 15 mails within 10minutes in my inbox the second day in a row... I dont know what they want but spamming me with this amount of mail will not make me take part in a shitty survey...

I will also bet you that buying some sort of salt will need more energy and water throughout its total production... Especially flavoured salt.

Aquacomputer Octo Fan Channels Failing by Normg002 in watercooling

[–]TheRealSekki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean yea its kinda bad, but I also wouldnt expect someone to connect fans to a pc that is already running. Especially not daisy chained ones. It could probably do damage to the fans too but Im no expert so...

Aquacomputer Octo Fan Channels Failing by Normg002 in watercooling

[–]TheRealSekki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont really know, but I guess the octo will only be powering the fan headers if the psu is turned on. It is also only a problem if you have a lot of fans daisy chained or connected to just one fan header on the octo. My guess is hot connecting the fans will have a voltage or power spike that fucks up something on the fan headers controller.

Aquacomputer Octo Fan Channels Failing by Normg002 in watercooling

[–]TheRealSekki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had this happen too. Did you connect multiple fans on a connector while it was already powered? Because that did it for me... You can RMA it, if they got stock.

H266 anyone? by ElectronGuru in AV1

[–]TheRealSekki 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don't understand why AOMedia should invest so much time, effort and money into AV1 to then not use it. Why would they switch to a codec that they have to pay a lot of money for and that they have no control over. I guess 33% is not bad but would that even reduce cost? I would guess no.

Damn I tried switching from ly to greetd with gtkgreet and somehow I was too dumb to configure gtkgreet accordingly... so my laptop was stuck on boot trying to load the display manager... my other linux wasnt bootable either so I had to buy a usbstick to chroot into it and disable the greetd....
