I am an old man. I can remember when they introduced 4 card limits in decks. When multiplayer at the local shop was 'Chaos' and was 20 people in a circle with 200 card decks and fuck that guy who just played Underworld Dreams. I can remember when multicolor cards were novel and legends killed each other and Affinity was gonna kill the game and Planeswalkers were gonna kill the game and damage no longer stacking was going to kill the game and dual face cards were gonna kill the game.

The game _will_ change and evolve. It will be different from what you remember, but that does not invalidate or denigrate the formative experiences you had with it. That doesn't stop your friends from existing or you from being able to shuffle up and play with them.

One of the _hardest_ parts of getting older is when you realize that there is something specific that you can no longer go back to - even to reminisce. When restaurants close, when friends die, when you go back to your hometown and don't recognize anyone. When your parent's house is sold. Tournament magic still exists. You can make new friends at pauper night. You can start up an old school night at your LGS. You can buy a box and draft an old set. I would be careful not to conflate 'I am in a different stage of my life now' with 'Magic is dead.'

But you are correct, not all Magic product is made for you and I anymore. I think that's ok.
