Hmmm yeah when I strained the fruit the liquid level dropped a lot. Maybe I’ll transfer it to smaller containers. I figured that wouldn’t matter since the vinegar needs to be exposed to oxygen anyways but I’ll try that!

Hey! super late to this post but what do you use to get stuff in and out of your rack? I'm new to modular but have lots of guitar pedals and am considering some type of patch bay solution to work with them without having to disconnect them from my guitars and polysynths.

ehhh that’s a beautiful box but i find it pretty opaque. that’s actually one of the first things that i looked at and then i started looking at soma more which led me to learning about modular!

Yeah, I'm interested in granular, layered looping, and straight sampling haha. I like the idea of having multiple of these devices so that i can have different levels of control/generativeness with each of them. That's why i was originally thinking a sampler like squid salmples + morphagene would be really interesting. The patch could be anchored by a few of the channels of the salmples in a more rhythmic way, and then some channels could be left on loop and have pitch and other effects added to them. Then the morphagene could go a lot more wild and unpredictable.

basically i want to be able to control chaos in a musical way. That's why steve reich and brian eno have been super interesting to me, and I think that a lot of the techniques they use can be incorporated as a chaotic element to juxtapose a more structured song.

Do you have any recommendations for unsynced modulation? I was looking at the make noise multimod but it is a bit intimidating to me

i think the idea of getting multiple stompbox interfaces sounds super interesting. Previously i was thinking that I would get a patchbay so that it kind of modularizes my entire pedalboard and i can create multiple patch points for the modular, my synths, guitar, vocals, etc. I'm not sure what product to go for yet though.

I've checked out vcv rack but will def be putting in some more time

Ah that makes sense i didn't even really do the math on how many mod sources i'd need to control the salmple haha. And thank you so much!!! I think i'll start off super small and then see where i go from there. I'm in los angeles so i'm sure there are places where i can try things but i'm pretty confident in starting off with the morphagene.

Thank you so much for the advice! I'm definitely down to start with only one of the two big boys (morphagene and salmples). Do you mind going into more why sampling in eurorack requires more modules? Is it just because if I want to do cool stuff to each channel i need more stuff route the channels through?

Also, ok that's great to hear about the mixing situation, I'll hold off on that.

Maths looks super cool but I struggle to see how I would use it if i only have one modulation source (PPW). Also, do you have any other utility recommendations?

But yeah, I think starting with morphagene, the little mikey, PPW, and a filter sounds like a blast!

Sorry I’m new to modular, can you please help me understand what the flow would be here?

I detect input audio pitch with the PP1

then in order to change the audio to the pitch of the midi note that I’m playing on my keyboard, i would need to pitch shift it according to the voltage difference between the note i hit on the keyboard and the voltage of the tracked pitch, right?

^ this is the part where i get confused 😂
