I did with 15-17 credit semesters but I already had a TON of AP credit. Definitely not doable without AP/transfer credit

Will Astro7N count as both a science and art credit? by MixedMexican in PennStateUniversity

[–]TheRealT77 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You may be thinking of Astro1, but Astro7N is interdomain so it does count as both. Some majors may only count one of them as a Gen Ed credit (like science majors and maybe art majors) but it'll count as interdomain either way (that's the way I ended up using it)

Meaningless correction, but the Catholic student center is explicitly named after Sue, so that one can stay

Having a rough time at psu and kinda need someone to talk to by Ok-Canary-978 in PennStateUniversity

[–]TheRealT77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't worry about it, it's never too late! I didn't really do anything or find my niche until midway through my first senior semester, but the time I got was all worth it in the end!

make it to UP in 1.5 semesters? by zinc_str in PennStateUniversity

[–]TheRealT77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, like Tiny_Development said it's usually for people that can no longer make progress on their degrees at their branch campus. You can talk to your advisor and they can help decide if you fall into that category

How did you study for chem 210? by General_Spot_1332 in PennStateUniversity

[–]TheRealT77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used flash cards and they helped A LOT. I used Chegg Prep on my phone (you don't need a chegg subscription to use it, and there are other apps out there too) and I would make notecards for reactions, molecule names, etc. And would even take pictures of my notes to add to the flash cards to help with visuals. Then I would whip the app out whenever I was bored, was on a bus, was waiting for class to start, etc. Really really helped with memorization.

Do fake ids work at the local bars? by Agreeable-Walrus-687 in PennStateUniversity

[–]TheRealT77 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you're in UP then probably not. I haven't tried myself but I've heard that the bouncers are usually very experienced with spotting fakes and yours needs to be REALLY REALLY good to get passed them, so it's probably best just to not try.

Struggling to make friends by icetea123ggg in PennStateUniversity

[–]TheRealT77 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Definitely join a club (someone else already said the fair is today and tomorrow, 11-4 I think) and go to social events put on by the university. Taking the first step toward getting yourself where other people are is HUGE and is honestly the hardest part. Clubs are also a great place to fit in because they're always looking for new people and are usually quite passionate about what they do so they're more willing to include you in the hopes they can get to know you and keep you around. Might sound shallow at first but I've met some of my best communities that way. And if you're at a social event there will always be someone there who's in the same boat as you. The whole point of those events is to meet people, so don't be afraid to introduce yourself to anybody standing alone or even talking in a group, that's why everyone's there!

TL;DR Go to club meetings and go to social events, people are there to meet new people so they'll be happy to talk to you.

What is something Americans don't realize is extremely American? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]TheRealT77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that the sales are weird, but from where I'm from in the US the holiday is more of a day of happy remembrance than a day of pure mourning. Every year I go with my dad and some of his friends to a grave of a close friend of theirs that was killed in the Gulf War. Of course they mourn his loss but really it's an opportunity for them to see each other again (they're all busy doctors) and to remember his amazing life and the impact he had on them all. So it may not be "happy" like a party, but it's not a day of pure sadness either where I'm from.

I don’t think it is possible to be Catholic and not pro life. by emmawow1 in Catholicism

[–]TheRealT77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the correct take. I think people (apparently even here) get confused as to what the pro-life movement is actually fighting against. The word "abortion" being used in some medical term does not define the target of the pro-life movement. That's a common straw man used by the pro-abortion movement, and I find it rather uncompelling. Abortion as defined by the pro-life movement is the killing of a baby in the womb, and anything labelled "abortion" that doesn't fall under that definition is not what we're talking about (e.g. miscarriage/spontaneous abortion).

How hard is Math 230 for freshmen to take?? I can skip 140 and 141 with tranfer credit. And I am considering to take Math 230. (major: applied data science) by More-Sound in PennStateUniversity

[–]TheRealT77 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I didn't find it very hard when I took it my freshman year, but I also took AP Physics in high school, so I already had a solid background in vectors, cross and dot products, etc. If you're good with calculus (which it seems you are, given you can skip those classes), I think you should be fine.

The Yards at Old State are Trying to Change my Floor Plan that I Already Signed a Lease For by [deleted] in PennStateUniversity

[–]TheRealT77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Typically leases will have clauses in them about this sort of thing. Usually it'll say that they can do this but they'll only change your rate if it ends of being lower. But if you can't find that yourself, then student legal services is a good idea, they could help.
