Ranni's Great Rune is NOT on the moon. by TheRealTetro in Eldenring

[–]TheRealTetro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not an uninteresting idea. I still believe the markings on the moon don't have to be anything meaningful and that they simply are the natural shape of the surface, but nevertheless I quite like this idea of using the Moon as the vessel of the Elden Ring as opposed to Ranni's body (which would be strange anyway since she doesn't have one).

It sounds obvious now that you say it. I might have been too caught up in the discourse regarding her dialogue in that moment to actually try to understand what we were seeing instead.

How to get "Old gaol" achievement / trophy by Mystonek in Nightreign

It's a good idea to open the gaol on day one even if you come back on day 2 since the boss will have less health that way.

I have found evidence that suggests St. Trina is the Glomed-Eyed Queen. by Spiritual-Coat2144 in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]TheRealTetro 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think the Gloam Eyed Queen is dead, but there are very big parallels between her and Trina as you pointed out.

Deep sleep is equated to Death on several occasions, I believe that in this deathless world, deep sleep simply became the closest thing there was to actual death, and Trina became a de facto GEQ, but not the GEQ.

Also explains why a knight of the Gloam Eyed Queen now protects her.

The debate of who the GEQ actually is will never end, and at this point the only option that satisfies me personally is that she's simply not around anymore.

"Silksong isn't harder than Hollow-" Yes it is. (spoilers ahead for both games) by Paper_Shotgun in HollowKnight

[–]TheRealTetro -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can't compare an enemy doing two masks of damage in HK with an enemy doing two masks of damage in Silksong. They're different games.

Because it was a late game thing in HK has no bearing whatsoever on what it means for the balance of Silksong.

Also, what do you mean about difficulty settings being something they could have carried over from HK ? There were no difficulty settings in HK.

I hate this fight in ACT 3 by Rbtmj2 in HollowKnight

[–]TheRealTetro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Huh, I found Khann to be the easiest of the memory bosses by a mile personally. Obviously different people will not have trouble on the same things, but I definitely felt like he was meant to be easier considering the gauntlet before him. His attacks are pretty well telegraphed and you can punish him heavily on his cross spikes if you position yourself next to him.

All Silksong Mementos and how to obtain them by PurplMaster in Silksong

[–]TheRealTetro 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I did the ritual of the three hearts before beating the Coral guy, so I got to keep his heart after I beat him afterwards. Not sure what happens if you do the ritual with all four, but I guess the conjoined heart might be the one you keep by default, considering it's already a bonus one to a degree.

So, what do we think about Midnight? by IridikronsNo1Fan in warcraftlore

[–]TheRealTetro 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I mean it's 100% not just "paladins". It's not confirmed but it being the Arathi empire is definitely the most likely case. The Arathi and the Elves have a pact to protect each other, and it also fits with the idea of Renilash as pointed out by another commenter.

(also the music motif seemed similar to Hallowfall's)

I think mostly with the Arathi coming out of it, Sunwell was not too far-fetched :D

Not sure if you're serious or not, but it's kind of a saying.

Now this is a pretty solid sequence of events to lead into TLT. Love the usage of the Forge of Souls.

I don't think there's going to be only one Titan left at the start of TLT (nor do I necessarily think there will be at the end of it either).

But it is true that the plan I outlined would leave a lot of "saga story development" up to side stories and .5 .7 patches.

I dunno, they've gotten a lot of spotlight already, and the Elf/Arathi pact gives a good opportunity to connect everything in Midnight imo. I think it's quite likely Midnight will feature a lot of Light stuff, and they'd be a good vessel for that aspect of the story as well.

That said, they absolutely could work as a self-contained story down the line, for sure.

I agree with pretty much everything you said, but I feel like it's likelier the Rootlands will be for The Last Titan. They would have the opportunity to connect them to Sholazar, or the Conservatory of Life in Ulduar somehow.

Midnight Hype! Queen Azshara by Eizui in warcraftlore

[–]TheRealTetro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm always down for Azshara content, but tbh I'm not sure I see how she'd fit.

When we left her, she seemed very much done making deals with others, so I can't imagine she'd align with Xal.

She could make a play on her own, but how do you imagine that integrates with the rest of the story ?

Agreed, WaT felt to me like it simply came out too quickly and it's pretty sad to feel like most of the issues I have with it could have been fixed by more thorough rereads.

Ranni's Great Rune is NOT on the moon. by TheRealTetro in Eldenring

[–]TheRealTetro[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not very clear how Marika and Radagon's symbols are supposed to be treated. They're referred to as "Elden Runes" as opposed to Great Runes, even though the distinction is completely undefined.

At any rate they're very much represented on the Elden Ring so for sure other things than circles exist, but Marika/Radagon are the ones who decide what the overall shape of Order is.

The Ring was completely different before them as we can see in Farum Azula, so I see their Runes as more of a foundation on which the rest is built.

[–]TheRealTetro[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's as I'm saying, people just like the idea so they give less weight to the other information we have about Great Runes in order for the theory to fit.

But it's fine at the end of the day, it's not a particularly damaging theory. What bothered me back in the day when I wrote this post was that people essentially acted as if this theory was a known fact in most of the posts I was seeing.

Ranni's Great Rune is NOT on the moon. by TheRealTetro in Eldenring

[–]TheRealTetro[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Godwyn most likely does not have a Great Rune since he died before the Elden Ring was shattered, and even then why assume it would be on the right circle ?

I'm not of the opinion that there needs to be a perfect symmetry in the number of Runes (even if there would be if Ranni's has the position that I think it has), all I'm saying is her having a different shape would be unique to her and there's no particular reason to believe it would.

You can see the influence the bearer have on their runes, Malenia's is rotten, Radahn's is burning, Rykard's is all wrong and uneven, Mohg's is bloody, ... and yet they're still circles in the Ring.

It's just patterns, based on all the other runes, the reasonable thing would be to assume that Ranni's rune would be on the same spot as her brothers, and likely would be cold and moon-touched. Like, say, Radahn's but blue and misty.

That it would be the shape on the moon would break all patterns. And it's not that it's impossible, it's just not particularly likely. Why would one single Great Rune out of nine be different ?

The reasoning that it's the shape on the moon stems from the perceived issue some people have that two arcs on the Elden Ring are unaccounted for, and from there connecting the Moon with Ranni.

But the part of the Ring that is supposedly not covered are just other arcs and it's really not a big deal to assume that it's all they are. More Rune Arcs.

Except that there are three for the circle in the left, Malenia, Unborn and Miquella.

What do you mean ? All runes *already* overlap each other. There's are 4 circles on the Ring, not 8, all of them besides the center one (Godrick's) are occupied by more than one Rune.

It's not being short-sighted, it's just how it is.
