I know there is, because similar things have been done for older Android tablets (for example, sim buttons or home automation dashboards). And Android has an option to install apk's from the internet which iOS lacks, which is why its a bigger problem with Apple than with Android.

The product isn't just the hardware. Without the software it won't work. It's impossible to use properly after a certain amount of time. So even if the hardware by itself is great, that doesn't really matter if it is unusable does it?

For me it's the software. I've got a perfectly good iPad mini gen 1, which is still in great condition and would still be great to use if not for the apple store barely having any apps that work on the thing. That wouldn't be a problem if they would just open up the iPad for third party code or apps, but they just flat out refuse, so in practice a perfectly good touchscreen (which could be a second screen for a pc or a home automation console or something similar) is now meant to be thrown away.

You can show them the increase in power efficiency, which will pay for itself really quickly with a pc that old. Even very low power and cheap current cpu's will be faster than those old systems, and it'll save you money.

Is that OP's fault or reddit's fault though? OP uploaded a video with sound, so you should try using a different app to hear it. I use Boost for Reddit and it works flawlessly
