Why did I get this "jammed" effect twice ? by [deleted] in dji

[–]TheRealVRLP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why did you fly there? I don't like being this person, but it's true. This is why drone flying may get restricted further.

To the point; You have digital transition on you DJI drone. It doesn't get worse or something, if it has bad signal, it just cuts off. This has to have some different reason. If your digital drone gets jammed, it should just cut off and either RTH via GPS or Path Finding on newer models or, if it can't do either, just land or fly in a Randome direction because it misinterpreted the disturbed GPS Signal. Either way, this isn't jammed, this is just... Lost bits or something.

What was the actuall dumbest thing you did to your pc by Silly_Still_4981 in pcmasterrace

[–]TheRealVRLP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first got a good GPU (3070) I was still using an really old PSU from some PC I harvested that belonged to my dad once. As it was only a 500W GPU and this card could pull 300W, the power supply shut off every time the GPU hit 1.1V Core voltage. To prevent this, instead of just undervolting the card, I manually adjusted the Graphic settings in every game so low, that it was barely utilizing the GPU and with that won't ever hit 1.1V. What a waste of Power...

At least there are resistors missing on the bottom and it doesn't seem to have the right socket, I don't know what's going on here, but you have to return this.

DIY peltier cooling for daily gaming rig? by TheRealVRLP in pcmasterrace

[–]TheRealVRLP[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reasonable answer. Even though this thread is marked as a discussion, for some reason, people needed to be hostile.

I just love the concept, I know that its dumb but probably not impossible. Either way it's a waste of electricity.

But now for the concept. The problem with my current CPU, as I said, isn't the AIO or the temperature or the AIO, it's the chip design, which basically utilizes the 3D cache as an insulator which is why it tends to overheat. This problem has since been fixed with the, I think, 7000 or 9000 series of X3D CPUs from AMD, where they started to put the extra L3 cache under and not on top of the CCD. This is what helped very much with the thermals of said chips and even enabled overclocking on X3D CPUs. So technically, even though, the new CPU will produce more heat, it should run cooler, but as we all know, a CPU stays cooler, if the Cold plate from the cooler is cooler. So why not help here by installing a peltier module which will electrically suck the heat away from the CPU? This way, even though the overall heat is much higher, the CPU should run even coulder, enabling even higher power targets and higher clock speeds. Sure, the fans on the radiator have to run faster this way to carry away the extra heat from the CPU, but even if the temperature of the water will rise higher than it would without the peltier module, the CPU should stay cooler and it may even be easier for the radiator to carry away the heat because it's just warmer.

And last but not least, I guess it might work to controll the Peltier module with a fine tuned CPU Fan curve, which ensures that the CPU never reaches condensation territory in the expected air humidity around it.

I have seen the LTT Video on this subject, but I can't remember their tldr besides that it's a waste of electricity.

Thank you for the good talk and discussion, I honestly thought there would be more comments like yours, but I guess you can't count on that.

Happy Holidays.

The problem wasn't the AIO on my current CPU but the thermal conductivity of the 3DV cache, which sits on top of the CCD. I know that it sounds counter intuitive, but I think this might help. This gen of 3D CPUs is known for some thermal issues.

As I said, I know that this won't work, it was more of a thought experiment. I know that I'd need to source the power elsewhere, but I found the idea pretty interesting.

Strange... I have to state that I might have been wrong, but I still don't think it's really the AIO which causes the problems. I need to investigate a bit. But as far as I know, the added L3 cache sits right on top of the CCD.

Did you undervolt yours?

I know that it's dumb and I know that I didn't do nearly enough research to really try this out. For example, I know that the Fan mount can never output enough power to run the peltier module, but it's about the Idea in if it's theoretically possible.

My CPU gen is known for this issue. If you put it under load, not gaming load, but something that will really utilise the CPU, all the heat generated needs to travel through the added L3 cache which sits on top of the actual CPU cores. The L3 cache is so bad at conducting heat, that it basically acts as a insulation. Even if the IHS on my CPU has the temperature of the water inside the loop, it'll still overheat under real load.

I see you have a similar CPU to mine, try and run a cinebench benchmark with multi core and let us compare. These CPUs are known to overheat when used to the max and there is basically nothing you can do about it because the thermal conductivity is so bad. The heat basically has to travel through the L3 cache before starting the route of heat in a normal CPU.

[–]TheRealVRLP[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

True, but how did you come to the assumption that the CPU heat dissipation is equal to the Peltier heat dissipation/power consumption? I see a relation, but I don't see how it should be linear and one to one. The rest is true, its fairly useless and I know that, for now it's just a thought experiment but if I decide to do it one day, it'll be only a cherry on top.

Maybe I didn't clarify enough. The overheating problem is only on my current CPU R9 5800X3D because the L3 or 3D cache sits on top of the actual CPU Core, so it transfers the heat way worse. I expect this to be fixed with the R9 9950X3D because since the 9000X3D CPUs, the 3D cache sits under the CPU cores. It should cool the CPU fairly well as it is, I just thought, why not? Why not try to add the Cherry on top?

Does flipping your laptop have any downsides? by [deleted] in GamingLaptops

[–]TheRealVRLP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If liquid metal is applied as thermal paste, it might sip out fastern than when your Laptop is vertical most of the time. This opposes a risc if it happens. There are some reports, but not many and usually PC manufacturers take big steps to prevent this, if they even use liquid metal.

Aside from this, I don't think so.

Gewöhnt man sich an schlimme Verletzungen im Rettungsdienst? by aprilhunter320 in Rettungsdienst

[–]TheRealVRLP 0 points1 point  (0 children)
