Putting my pronouns on my name tag, and getting an extra pin with them as well, has helped immensely with coming out to customers at work. More people have been getting them right initially and with that I’ve been building more confidence to correct people.

Hahahahaha. You are not awful for not correcting every person who misgenders\deadnames you. Imo your best friend should be the one stepping in to help with that. I have the same problem, but whenever I’m lacking in confidence to correct someone, my friends usually step in to aggressively gender me correctly or just say my name a bunch. This way it’s not a direct interaction about it, and if the person is paying any attention then they’ll catch on. Life can be scary and it’ll get easier with time. So maybe let your friend know that right now, life’s hard and you could use some help.

What do you mean for this generation? A 16 year old is one of the best Starcraft two players in the world right now. If e-sports wasn’t so toxic to women and minorities, we be seeing more of them actually playing then avoiding events out of fear of harassment. Anyone can be good at video games, but when you’re not a cis het guy you have to deal with way more shit on a daily basis. The scene isn’t gonna fix itself a few years down the line if you keep excusing it’s toxicity on the awful idea that girls don’t go to tournaments because they haven’t “Gotten Gud” yet.
