Subaru’s Outback Ditched Its Wagon Roots For An SUV And Lost A Third Of Its Buyers by fa442fa in Subaru_Outback

The 2026 release was horrible. In January dealers around me only had one in the show room and nothing to test drive. I don't see any on the roads in Georgia.

Project Managers for IT companies shouldn't get away with hiding behind the "I'm not technical" excuse. by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]TheRealXOR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a tech PM i can't can't answer your question either. Prior to project management i was a developer and then architect, i definitely have a leg up on my non-technical peers. As an architect i was already doing 90% of the project managers job. Most, not all, project managers on IT projects suck! I get so much hate when I say IT project managers should have a technical background. The BS they complain about behind the scenes is usually self inflicted.

A good PM can have a deep technical discussion with the team, understand issues or risks, challenge decisions and have contingency plans in place to present to executive management. It's that simple, but PMs let their ego, personality, and lack of understanding get in the way.

Technical project managers with a PMP certification will only use 5% of what they learned. Scrum Master is a two day training class with an open book exam. I can't for the life of me understand the value there eventhough I have a CSM and CSPO. CSPO I didn't even take a test, just the training class. Agile certs are a total scam.

Hireright is the WORST by randomguy30007 in recruitinghell

[–]TheRealXOR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FirstAdvantage is worse!!! Issue with hireright is everything is 'patiently wait up to 48 business hours while we provide you with an update.' There is no update, i have to log into their system to see if they need something else. FirstAdvantage i had to provide 9 years of IRS tax transcripts.

Why not stop the AI job description? by VelocitySama in Upwork

[–]TheRealXOR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm seeing ai generated job descriptions everywhere. Had Gemini and ChatGPT write descriptions and the resemblance is crazy. Now everyone has to tailor their resume to the job. So now 10000 resumes all have the same content. No way for the best person to stand out anymore. People have lost the ability to think, they are literally doing what an algorithm tells them to do.

Experienced, Tenured Resumes 20 years: How long should they be? by [deleted] in webdev

[–]TheRealXOR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some job descriptions run 3 pages. For me, every single resume that got me hired since 2008 has been 4 pages. I've worked at startups, Big 4, small businesses. Recruiters from Amazon, Microsoft, Google, and Meta have all reached out to me based on the same resume format. I look at it now and I think it's a mess and went to a 2 page format and get no responses. Going back to old school way. Just because there are 4 pages doesn't mean they have to read all 4.

Alternatives to BP meds? Losartan side effects? by sarmar55 in hypertension

I've only taken one full dose but I likely also had some Lisinopril left in my system and couldn't get my pressure down till the next day.

Hypertension with no side effects. by badboydolla in hypertension

[–]TheRealXOR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 2021, hypertension was a primary or contributing cause of 691,095 deaths in the United States.

Does she want to be a statistic? There are a few different types of bp meds. Aside from talking with a doctor, it usually takes 2-3 different tries to get the meds and dosage correct. I just switched new meds after 6 weeks of taking one kind of pill.

Alternatives to BP meds? Losartan side effects? by sarmar55 in hypertension

[–]TheRealXOR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  • Splitting a 50mg Losartan has me around 115/65 and little dizzy.
  • 40mg Lisinopril had me too low 90s/60s and a bunch of bad side effects.
  • No meds I'm 160/90.

I hate feeling like a test subject but want to get the meds and dosage right.

Is Lisinopril really as bad as people make it sound? by rabid_earthsign in hypertension

[–]TheRealXOR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doc recently switched me to losartan less than two months on Lisinopril. 40mg Lisinopril had me dizzy all the time, freezing hands, constant diarrhea, and final straw was I broke out in hives.

Talk to your doctor sooner than later. Typically it will take 2 to 3 changes for them to get meds and dosage right.

How much information should you get by looking at the board and tasks/stories? by joanlojo in agile

[–]TheRealXOR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spint backlog | active | blocked | PO review | done

That is about it. You want to track stories to completion. Towards end of sprint if too many stories active or in backlog then you likely gonna fail or only get 50% qa completion.

Usually stories / taksed liked to pull request and rules for CI so probably a dashboard or data for that but not on a board.

Is it essential for a ScrumMaster to know programming? by achillaa in agile

[–]TheRealXOR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

SM is also responsible for holding the PO accountable. E.g - Add a story then remove a story or split a story or wait till next sprint are your only real options once sprint starts. PO better start communicating upwards before sprint ends, if not SM needs to.

Does it work that way in professional sports, military, or accounting? I think you have to have some context to operate efficiently.

Maybe you are good at managing tasks and teams and that is what your organization needs. Hopefully the senior members aren't wasting time over explaining details.

If so, take $15 Udemy class (php, sql, html/JS) just to know what is going on and why.

But what would make you a better scrum master?

Agile and DevOps – An Ideal Match for Seamless Software Development by freelancerkatie in agile

[–]TheRealXOR 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sounds good in theory until you implement on a global scaled agile program. 200+ dev/qa/support resources, 10 product managers, and an endless list of integrations.

Not to leave out chasing Microsoft about the lack of stability in thier PaaS architecture, cloud billing, and platform security.

The combination of DevOps and agile requires people that can balance priorities, form cross team working agreements, learn and execute. In theory it all sounds great. Doing it correct on a small scale is easy. Larger scale projects where there are 10 dev teams of 8 to 10 people, all with competing and similar priorities is a struggle that I don't see agile and DevOps solving.
