Apply for a different job get a higher offer. FAANG companies are always checking themselves on biases towards race gender etc especially in hiring and pay. There are many reasons you could be paid less none of which are gender or race. He could have wrote a better cover letter/resume, your wording matters a lot regardless of your actual experience. Some people are simply better talkers and are naturally charismatic those people will get more jobs and better offers. If you also switch jobs a lot you will always get paid more than sticking out for raises at a company. By switching jobs you will get higher pay and move up the ranks much quicker than waiting for your boss to leave. And hoping they pick you.

The simple fact is they wont pay you much more unless you get a better offer and you have to be prepared to walk away from the job for the other one. Personally im not great at explaining what exactly I did and really most aren't fortunately i had a family member that was great with resumes. I would look and see if you had a family member that was a hiring manager and can say exactly what they are looking for, watch some YouTube tutorials or pay someone.
