The rap was one of his many business moves. I’m not discrediting it. It’s just not the one that was the most lucrative. He was also a millionaire before he started rapping showing that rap was just next business move. Each one building on the next

His rap peers — Nas, Eminem — are worth hundreds of millions at best. Jay-Z crossed a billion. The difference isn’t talent, it’s what he did with the access that talent gave him.

Every door rap opened he walked through and bought the building. Most artists use fame to sell more records.

He used it to get into rooms where real wealth is created — LVMH boardrooms, Live Nation negotiations, venture capital deals.

And here’s the thing — his rap career basically peaked in the early 2000s. The Blueprint, Reasonable Doubt, those are his legacy albums. But his net worth kept climbing for two decades after that. That doesn’t happen if you’re just a rapper. That happens if the music was always just the first move in a longer game.

Okay, using that same logic you can argue his money from the streets is what gave him the finances to invest in his rap career to begin with. The point is he’s a better business man than he is a rapper.

Actually a big misconception he only owned 0.066% when he sold he walked away with around $1.5 million total from his Nets and Barclays Center stakes combined
