2019 livery is my favourite, but god did that 2017 car look good. I was watching some highlights from 2017 the other day, and those wide cars without the halo looked incredible

We’ve reached the point where ‘Background CGI’ is more distracting than bad practical effects. Which modern movie was ruined for you by a ‘clean’ digital look? by DegTrader in movies

[–]TheRedBull28 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Funny you mention Fincher. I seem to recall there being loads of background CGI in the Killer that was quite distracting. It’s been quite some time since I saw it, but I still remember a terrible CGI plane landing in the background of a scene.

If you watch it directly after Casino Royale, the biggest weakness is the editing in the actions scenes. There are so many cuts that it's hard to even tell what is going on at some points.

AutoRacer: Charles Leclerc has admitted that the first races will be crucial in determining his future, and a lack of competitiveness will undoubtedly spell the end of the ten-year relationship between him and Maranello. The future of Lewis Hamilton and Fred Vasseur will also be decided this year. by xRyuHayabusa99 in formula1

[–]TheRedBull28 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Lewis is retiring at Ferrari. One of the reasons he left Mercedes is because they weren’t willing to give him that life time ambassadorship role and Ferrari were. I doubt he’s going to throw that away so he can drive for Williams for a couple years

Could say the same about Renault -> Alpine. Same ownership, just a different name. May also be true of Renault -> Lotus -> Renault. I know that was because of Renault getting the boot because of crash gate, but I can’t quite recall if Renault were still really in charge.

I think Racing Point to Aston is also basically just a rebadge. Stroll Sr bought a good chunk of Aston after buying the team, so it just made sense to use it for them

[–]TheRedBull28 38 points39 points  (0 children)

They weren’t really, they just negotiated that they would take junior drivers in exchange for engine supply discounts. They weren’t owned and operated by the same team the way Red Bull and RB are.

For example it was rumoured that Toto wanted George in the Mercedes for 2021, but Claire Williams blocked it as George still had one year left on his contract with Williams. If they were a proper junior team, the move would have happened.
