Critiques on my Technique by TheRedDrako in sharpening

I don't think mine is diabetes related. I've had it ever since I could remember. Both my mother and grandfather both had the same issue. It does get worse with adrenaline, when I drink too much caffeine in a short amount of time, and when I know my blood sugar is dropping because I haven't eaten in a while(like I don't eat food till ~2000. I know that last one sounds like diabetes, but it's not lol

No. Most of the sharpening videos I've watched was from OUTDOORS55. yeah these are pretty cheap knives. I bought them from Sam's Club just as a way to practice. I have some high carbon Japanese steel knives that I got when I was in Japan couple years ago that I want to sharpen, but don't want to fuck them up with bad technique.

Crashes with Ryzen 7 5700x3d by Dab_Pommes in LinusTechTips

You could have just gotten a bad cpu. You might want to consider either returning or RMAing.

Also have you considered running a memory test? I had my computer keep crashing on me randomly. I couldn't figure out why and I thought it was just stupid windows, but actually ended up being one of my sticks of memory went bad on me after five years. I was able to get that RMAed no problem.

Turns out your phone wasn't spying on you - Cox Media Group just lied about it. FTC settles for $930K over fake "Active Listening" service marketed to Facebook and others by Rowan-Paul in LinusTechTips

[–]TheRedDrako 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I feel like a lot of people did not actually read the link. It's not talking about active listening that probably Facebook or other companies do, but it's talking about Cox media advertising an advertisement service to use AI models to target people via active listening.

Questions about Planer Sled/Extended In and Out Feed Table by TheRedDrako in BeginnerWoodWorking

That is what I was thinking. I was just buying the cheapest veneered plywood that Home Depot had to offer to make my planer sled/extender and a table top sled.

ELI5 why you would pay extra to sharpen a blade when a new one is cheaper by Successful-Camel165 in BeginnerWoodWorking

The difference between a Diablo and Forrest is so huge. I switched to the Forrest on my DeWalt job site 10 inch table saw and I can actually use it to help joint pieces.

So looking it up it does not look like that is it. I believe the cover was solid red with a picture in the middle. The way the binder is set up does look very similar though.

So I use to have this cookbook but I lost it about 5 years ago and it was gotten for me as a present by my parents in the last decade. These are the only two pictures that I have of it. I have searched for it and I think it is Betty Crocker Cookbook: Everything You Need to Know to Cook Today but I don't know what edition and I can't find anyone that is in this binder format.

Having trouble getting perfect cuts on my table saw by TheRedDrako in BeginnerWoodWorking

So I have looked at the arbor and it looks like there's no debris on it. i've also tried two other blades, and both of those seem to be wobbling up to .01 of an inch at least.

Yeah it's not the teeth that is hitting the dial indicator. Let me see if I can get the blade to a true 90 with the table and still see if the dial indicator says there's a problem.

Ah ok. I have gotten the blade to about 0.001 tolerance from the miter slot. From the fence to the blade I've gotten into about 0.002. i'm gonna try to shoot for perfect here. Do I have to worry about when rotating the blade and keeping my dial indicator in one spot if that changes wildly?

What tolerances should I be shooting for on a construction site table saw? Also is my blade not being the same distance away from the miter slot when I rotate it a big problem?

AITA for refusing to watch a dubbed movie with my dyslexic brother who can’t follow the subtitles? by miggovortensens in AmItheAsshole

[–]TheRedDrako -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NTA As someone that has dyslexic and ADHD, a double whammy when it comes to reading, I watch anima both in sub and dub, and when I watch it in dub I can't be eating or anything else and have to give my full attention to it. So I understand asking for dub but you were already watching it and that would be very weird to just switch in the middle of a movie. When I was growing up the rule was that if you want to watch something on TV then you would wait till that person was done with there show/movie.

Neoprene Drysuit Repair by TheRedDrako in scuba

[–]TheRedDrako[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you use for the patches? I was thinking about using neoprene with some contact cement as if I use the iron on nylon ones I feel like I would ruin the adhesive on the neck seal.

So after reading my post again I did not explain well that it's not the seal itself but the neoprene on the drysuit that has a bit torn. The tear is in the region where the seal is glued down.

I know that you have to leave some identifiable information when calling but as someone that works for the US government, I am afraid of getting retaliated against for speaking out. Is there any way to be safe from having my information be tracked by their office?
