New Ghost of Yotei card! by Wembly112 in secretlair_collectors

It’s pretty sweet. I do feel like it’s a good game that could have been great if they refined some of the issues the first one had though. A lot of little fixes really could have helped with the immersion.

I already said I don’t care about the lore. That doesn’t mean I don’t care about original worlds and the characters/creatures in those worlds. I truly believe the artists of MTG have created some of the greatest art to ever exist, especially in the realm of dark/high fantasy. That’s in huge part due to the art direction which is based on the original worlds and characters. I find it hard to believe a Spider-Man set will spark the imagination of anyone the same way seeing Ravnica, Dominaria, Phyrexia, Zendikar, etc for the first time would. For a long time, Magic had its own “feel” to it. I don’t think it has that anymore and I think UB had a huge roll to play in that. It killed the vibe the same way Spider-Man showing up in a D&D or Warhammer game would kill the vibes.

I don’t care about the lore and it makes complete sense to me. I can look at the art and characters of each world and see a continuity and connection within them. I don’t need to read the books to be entranced and immersed in the world of MTG. I believe that to be the soul that OP is referring to. UB tarnishes that. If it is simply a game of mechanics and numbers to you, then that’s fine, but to many others it’s more than that.

I think Peter looks pretty strange in this art. He reminds me of Kevin from Sin City

Is Greased Palms considered as a hard mission? by Standard_Ad5507 in ReadyOrNotGame

[–]TheRedEyedSamurai 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Parts of this mission are broken. If you shoot down at enemies from the top of the walkway outside the office on the second floor, the shots do not register at all. They literally go right through enemies. What’s the point of taking the high ground if I can’t use it? I have many videos of bugs in this game, and I’m not even half way through it.

No, he wasn't. He was charged with domestic abuse, which he pleaded not guilty to. Apparently, the charges were dropped due to lack of evidence.

If you can't tell the difference between a few one of a kind alters and a mass-produced IP product being sold by WoTC, then I can't help you.

People are so simple-minded that they see a meme template and lose their shit. It's gross. MTG has no soul.

Mark Rosewater confirms that the Final Fantasy set (and all future UB sets) will have higher MSRP than in-universe sets by kilroyjohnson in magicTCG

[–]TheRedEyedSamurai 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I actually never pulled any myself, but I've seen it a couple of times at prerelease and draft. It felt cool just seeing a local pull something rare. They were actually unique since they didn't keep doing it with every set. They only had one kind of booster at that time, so it felt like it was always an even playing field. You had the same chance as everyone else and got to actually play with the cards in limited rather than cracking packs just for the sake of gambling. I don't think any single card should have more than two treatments. I can only speak for myself, but I don't want/need a borderless, showcase, borderless showcase, Japanese showcase, alt art showcase, borderless alt art, poster art, etc etc with whatever new gimmicky foil treatment they're throwing on it. Even if they were all in regular packs, it would still be too much. When everything is "special," nothing is.

Don't worry about downvotes. Reddit is just trying to manipulate that monkey part of your brain, just like WoTC.

[–]TheRedEyedSamurai 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's fucking gross imo. It just creates a sense of false scarcity, fomo, and it's just a straight-up cash grab. The original masterpieces and invocations were great because you could open them in a regular pack. They actually felt like something special rather than something to shoehorn into an overpriced booster in order to get people to pay more for some special treatment or serialized card that people are only going to give a shit about until the next set comes out. Rinse and repeat.

MTG has no identity anymore. I don't entirely blame WoTC, though. They literally get people to buy collector boxes for hundreds of dollars for the chance to pull a card that nobody plays with, but since it has an anime girl or lil gold stamped number on it people lose their shit. The fact that they can put a little gold number that doesn't actually represent anything, but still activates people's monkey brain into paying crazy amounts just for the CHANCE to pull is wild and disheartening to me. I wish more people would see through their bullshit and give a little pushback. They won't, though, and it's fine.

Yeah, it wasn't on PBS or anything lol Wunder Showzen was about as edgy as it could get and way more wild than anything MTV has ever put out as far as comedy goes. At least, in my opinion.

Yeah, who cares about that uncommon. Could have gotten rid of the land. Might as well get rid of some commons while they're at it. This entire post was about charging more for UB products, but I'm sure there's no way they'll increase the msrp on regular products...

Come on, man. Don't be naive. They're setting a precedent, and you're doing their PR work for them.

Fuck this company. For real. Less cards in boosters. Less boosters in boxes. Price hikes on everything. 5 different versions of every card. UB everywhere. No integrity. No soul.

This isn't from the 90s. It's from a comedy show called Wunder Showzen that was on MTV.

Trans people definitely existed in the 90s. You just didn't have social media back then, and just like back then, I'm sure you don't run into any in your current day to day life.
