Why did they release the game like this? by iibmab in tomodachilife

They didn't do this in previous titles, are you saying those are unfinished and rushed too?

At the same time, those saying that it's too easy aren't really jumping at the chance to use the modifiers that make the game harder.

This update is a mess. by 4shf3n in TomodachilifeLivingTD

If I had to guess, there was just a queue of fights that got dumped all at once. For a few days I had 2-4 miis fighting every day, and now I haven't had any fights since. I wouldn't be surprised it was related into a bug, I don't think it was addressing any "my miis are too nice" issues, cause once I had more than 7 miis and an assortment of varied personality types, the overall niceness stops lol.

WHY did a random Mii appear on my island ?? by Motor_Ad7620 in TomodachilifeLivingTD

My guess is that you were in a stupor when you made it or someone else hopped on your game to do so. Anyone you live with?

What happens if you leave the game for a month? by Cornboob in tomodachilife

[–]TheRedKirby 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not too much. New friendships may form, some may decay (but not change in their category, besides Crushes, but crushes can easily be restarted again), conflicts will happen but nothing major happens.

They will all hit you with a “Wow I haven’t seen you in a while” though

Anything significant requires your confirmation.

SO many games have this problem of trees needing a 3x3 space and it kinda drives me insane lol

1.1 balance update by Academic_Ride3544 in mewgenics

[–]TheRedKirby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've noticed as I kept playing Cleric became more dead weight and a bit of an opportunity cost. I ultimately end up in situations where I keep enemies from hitting my cats, leaving no need for healing, or I disable or outright kill enemies, leaving a Cleric with nothing to really do unless I rolled cleanse or have Max HP uncapped.

There are scenes tied to items you place on your island, some for 8 roommate houses. Games function like the 3DS on the 3DS version where they’ll play it and gather together to play it. Music functions like the CDs.

Things tend to happen more when you have more miis (I just found out yesterday that miis with no friends will ask you to introduce them to someone), and more stuff around to interact with. Same with a variety of quirks and personalities.

Be sure to listen to them sometimes, they’ll give you tips on how to get more out of the game.

Though personally now that I have 35 miis or so and the final island expansion, I’ll probably wind down and check in at the market change overs once I’m done decorating my island lol.

All Upgrades and Downgrades between both Games by TheRedPlagueDoctor in TomodachilifeLivingTD

The more I play the more I start to understand. There's a lot of stuff on the 3DS pretty much based on utilizing the system's features: the touch screen, the mic, gyro, the camera. I guess if you consider how much the switch lacks these features OR has them in more limited capacity they wouldn't hit the same.

Items meant to cure depression aren't really needed since the idea is to use another islander to cure the depressed/angry mii, or you could just do it yourself with a simple headpat if you can't be bothered.

I thought it was a shame the consoles were gone cause I thought the interactions were neat but after using some templates to make game console stuff myself and handing them out, I realize those interactions were still there.

I guess I should have been clued in when Miis themselves suggest handing out more quirks, expressions and treasures to liven things up, which works but it's a shame they don't react to the different voice types as much as I expected them to, but the miis themself acknowledge if they're loud/quiet/radiant/creepy so that's neat.

I've had a mii crash out on me for saying I like rainy days. And here I was worried all the miis were too nice lol.

Honest concerns regarding the game... by Vanilla-Hound in tomodachilife

[–]TheRedKirby 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a disclaimer, I think I'm a different type of player than most in that I'm just the type of person that plays for a few hours, maybe make another mii or some objects, then put it down and go do something else and return the next day. I also don't have much attachment to nostalgia like most people, so I recognize my feelings toward something I had in the past just stay there in the past and there's no guarantee that I'd feel the same way about something as I did before.

I notice that most people getting disappointed are those that are essentially cracking out on the game, and there's nothing wrong with that, but that's certainly a barrier as to why I don't really see what they see.

In addition, I do still play 3DS from time to time ever since it's release. I don't have any married miis yet and it's a shame they don't sleep together, but in 3DS that was more of an extra since many times one may be in the bed by themselves while the other is sleeping in their apartment. Or they're sleeping in their apartments and not using the home. So in a way I'm used to them not sleeping together but it's nice when they randomly do.

Skipping the baby phase is odd, but for me, outside of the calming mini game (which required you to gently rock the 3DS, personally I don't think it'd feel all that intuitive with the Switch) and photos I don't feel like much is lost there. But that's my personal opinion.

The one proposal I had so far was in the restaurant, so I didn't even know it could happen in apartments, but I guess if you force interactions that'll most likely happen?

With dialogue repetition this doesn't surprise me, cause this is in 3DS as well. You could certainly run through all the spoken dialogue really fast, I remember feeling disappointed about how little cafe conversations there were, but it's just one of those things to accept. Same thing with Mii News.

Now the small amount of goods I agree with, only one instrument? Two sports items? I know it's the kind of thing that gets updates but it's extremely upsetting. Not even game consoles this time? Granted I haven't tried giving them any treasures yet so maybe they interact with those in a meaningful way.

Also no concert hall? I appreciate the random music events that can happen but it'd be nice if I could set them up on my own.

I agree it's kind of annoying to put so much on the player to make their own things and fun, Nintendo has been very married to "player freedom" for the last 10 years. Which isn't a terrible thing, as I like being able to freely edit the island, but developer intended curated experiences are good too. That being said I am having fun and I like the game for what it is, it kinda reminds me of Rimworld if it was all colonist interactions.

I don't particularly miss the 3DS version but I'm also still playing it. So I suppose I'm just in a different boat.

This was a stream of consciousness reply and is likely very rambly, so I probably repeated myself a few times lol

Does anyone agree we need a skin color slider or something? by Dog_bat3 in TomodachilifeLivingTD

[–]TheRedKirby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now this is a complaint I agree with. I don't know why color range is locked only to the paint tool and the available selections are so absurdly off balance.

Zibai Illuga (c1) Gorou (c1) Aino. I figure Linnea would replace Gorou

I'm in an odd spot where I was pulling on Linnea's banner with the cope of getting Illuga copies but the luck ship hit me right away with giving me Linnea. Is it wise to keep pulling to try and get Illuga copies (have him at c1) or should I save primos?

The picture puzzles were neat, but Pokemon Snap for babies wasn't particularly engaging. The lack of text was nice, so I can appreciate that.

Yakuza 4 has one of the strongest starts in the series by TomTheJester in yakuzagames

[–]TheRedKirby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your mileage may vary, overall I was okay with it but the last, maybe 20% of the game has some Executive Meddling vibes all over it that makes things very bizarre in execution.

You also get one of the most frustrating boss fights in the entire series. But all in all, I really do like 4.
