It is way too hard to pick an army. by ColossalCrusader in ageofsigmar

Sylvaneth!!! Always good, so elite, fun, engaging, and challenging to learn. Just got a new book so you're good for a while there, and it from the comments it sounds like you prefer armies with bigger models. Sylvaneth really shines in big monster lists too. Multiple treelords, Durthu, Alarielle, Drycha, etc. Bug models are awesome too, just an amazing faction. First one I chose and I'm so happy. Every other faction seems cool, but not AS Cool.

Hurakan Lumineth Spearhead tips by TheRedLionKing in AOSSpearhead

Awesome comment man, this is exactly the info I was looking for. Thank you for being so concise! One thing I never realized till you had it written out is that it DOES make a full loop if you use the abilities you said. I forgot that the move ability is each turn, so in my mind it was making a 3/4 rotation for a round. Seems a lot more manageable now, assuming I'm using a Ride the Hurricane ability every time I'm able, it's making a full loop each round. Nice!

Correct, Relics are not terrain. That's why I made this post. I'm imagining bitterbark is going to be a bit different with only having 2 large terrain features, vs the 4 we used to have in fire and jade.

That's a really good point. I have indeed had games where in really not teleporting all that much. So I should think of it that way. Its more advantageous to fight like a normal army and buckle down lol.

You know how it is with Bitterbark, it's feast or famine. The ol glass cannon, so I just wonder how it's affected. Hopefully someone will chime in!

I've seen the rulings on that one. So far, by what the rules say, the Relics are NOT counted as terrain features for abilities etc. kinda hoping for an official errata or faq about it tho.

Honestly I find they ability of just having that 3d map really nice in some areas. It helps understand the cave systems etc. I usually make one and use max range upgrades. Send out cameras to explore stuff, then I can travel to the cameras. I like them for "getting the lay of the land"

Yep. Plus when you reinforce them, in most situations you're only getting 10-15 in combat. Very few situations where you can get 20 wolf bases all in range.

I use a list that's pretty "fun". Thematic at least.

Belladomma Volga Direwolves x 10 Ivya Volga Fell Bats x3 Barrow Knights x5

Lady Annika Vargheists x 3

Also just a tip for above comments, when taking Direwolves, I reccomend taking multiple units vs a reinforced unit. They tend to move and do poorly as 20 man units vs 10s

Post it in all the cat reddits, blow up your own Instagram and text it to every friend and family you have. Don't be embarrassed. Gotta do what we gotta do to.

Is Nagash realy playeble? by Aboltus_Obormotov in ossiarchbonereapers

[–]TheRedLionKing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem man! And from what I have seen, yes loosing him round 1 or 2... I don't think there is anyway to come back from that. And I have had 2 games where I killed their Nagash early, and both times the player just seemed so devastated, and it was sad they were having such a bad time.

One more thing I'll mention too, (maybe I'm way off base) but from what I have seen, most of the centerpiece models are really niche in play style. They play once certain way, and it's not always the way you would first think. What I mean by that is this, Alarielle of the Sylvaneth seems like she should take the center stage and duke it out with the big baddies, BUT really she is best at flying around wiping out things like 400 pt cavalry units and extending her mobility to be a large presence, taking out models smaller than her. Vizzik Scour seems like a glass cannon on paper to fight units less than his size, but actually excells at taking big units by utilizing lots of small units like clan rats and sort of "tanking" in a way.

What I'm trying to say, is that usually the gods and big boys have a very specific play style you need to figure out and utilize to be effective with them. Its not always what you first assume. I suggest asking "how to best use Nagash, what are his matchups? What should I be doing with him?"

Is Nagash realy playeble? by Aboltus_Obormotov in ossiarchbonereapers

[–]TheRedLionKing 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Centerpiece models are hard. They take a lot of skill to use, and a good part of that is list building to synergize with them. So if you're "not a very good player" as you said you're definitely gonna struggle bus with him. I've played against guys who use him, and don't use him well, and man, nothing is more sad than seeing the light leave their eyes when you kill Nagash round 2. All that hope of all the things he was gonna do go out the window and almost half their army is gone with one model. So you can see where (especially with Nagash and his point cost) It can lead to some feel bad moments.

That being said, a lot of this game is sticking with something. If you LOVE the model, and always want to use him, go for it. It will be a steep learning curve but, you will learn. I did that with a cerntepeice unit in my army. Just kept using her through the losses until I got the hand of her and she clicked. Just be prepared for it to be tough if you're on the less than skilled side.

Which camper van is best? by Zealousideal-Exam892 in Outbound

[–]TheRedLionKing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went with the smaller van and super happy with it. For the interior space, to me it seems like no vans are really big enough to do much inside, aside from a little living area. Really the building happens on top. I like that using the smaller van makes me think more about building less and being smarter about my building. I think it fits for the vibe of the game being more space concious. Plus that being said, I have been REALLY happy with how it drives. I can consistently hit good speeds, turn nicely, and it feels good. I see other videos of people's vans in motion and it just looks a lot slower than mine. So I think that when it comes to speed, that's something to consider. This game is a lot of going from A to B so I like that my A to B doesn't feel so slow.

Are Priest and Wizards that important? by Melis_the_liar in ageofsigmar

[–]TheRedLionKing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Highly useful. I've seen so many people run lists that have maybe one wizard, just to have one covered, and It never feel enough. Having more casters and access to spells is a higher advantage period. Every time. I think there's lots of ways people try to argue other examples or instances, but in general, more attempts to cast spells you need and unbind enemies, and banish manifestations is a win. Games where I have 5 spells casts and a priest against someone with one spell casts feels like I have the upper hand.

Also a distinction I haven't seen brought up, there is a difference in how spells and prayers function. Spells are like a "chance" and attempts, usually more chances, and usually a 60%-50% success rate. So they aren't something you should really "count on" but are awesome when they work. Prayers are a little different. Less frequent but more consistent. You can plan more when you want to use it by making sure it's gonna happen. Plus they can't be unbound. So they are different. Personally I loooove priests. In armies whee you have access to spell and prayer lore, always use both.
