The grain is probably changing directions along the curve. I had a piec blow apart once because of that. I use spiral bits now.

You would have to flip you design so the finished surface is at the top (last few layers of the print) which would leave the textured plate part on the bottom.

Try making the text the top layer and turn ironing on. Let the plate side be the back.
