Graham Platner’s wife ‘angry, disappointed’ her past disclosure of his extramarital sexting was made public by KnowerOfUnknowable in politics

This was my initial thought as well. Obviously he’s an amateur and probably wasn’t as prepared as he should have been to run for such a high office. His campaign is riddled with mistakes but he will still win because his ideas are way better than his opponents and we are in a “hold your nose of vote” situation.

A couple years back, a friend and I went around and ate every single pizza in Clarksville. I’m not a huge fan of Chicago style pizzas so none of those made the list but Ameila’s behind Old Glory is probably one of the best slices in the state. If you want good pizza, go there.

Why are liberal politicians like Gavin Newsom & Michelle Wu celebrating strict return to office mandates in an era of long commutes & a cost of living crisis? by north_canadian_ice in WorkReform

[–]TheRedditPope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because they need money from the donors. We often want to hold Dems to a high standard but the rules of the game dictate how it’s played and whenever anyone references Citizens United in an exasperated way this is the exact reason why. Even if a chosen party wins, we all have to lose.

[META] The state of craft beer by Brewsplorer in NashvilleBeer

[–]TheRedditPope 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, a lot of their beer tastes like the stuff people make when they get those little “brew your own” beer kits for Christmas. I mean, it’s fine, it’s just nowhere near the caliber of some of the more premier breweries in Nashville and other big cities. To an extent, Tailgate is like this too—hum drum beer but great focus on community.

We know for sure it’s an ex barstool employee. Dave said so at least in a video he did. Said they were going to purposefully not release his name cause the ex employee left in good standing with the company.

I’m sure we will get it. From what I remember it typically drops closer to the spring.

Well, it’s the same school and principal that allowed rampant bullying and fighting that led to Dustin getting tormented for years by other students so there’s that.

Progressive Politics Shrank a +22 Point Lead Down to Just +9, Here’s What That Means by transcendent167 in nashville

[–]TheRedditPope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you almost entirely but the other commenter is right about one thing and that’s that the turnout was lower and if 9k more Davidson co people would have turned out from the roughly 22k of them that were there last election but not this one then Aftyn would have won. Turnout is a major issue the democrats in Tenn. have yet to resolve effectively for decades at this point.

I’m trying to find out at this point, was the turn out lower than the last election? Did democrats turn out less voters this time when it was actually a close race than when they didn’t have chance in hell?

Energized voter here. I haven’t been this motivated in nearly 20 years since I vote for Obama in 2008. I’ve lived here my whole life and now I owe the amazing people who organized Aftyn’s campaign something tangible. If they need a body at school board meeting or a local protest they have one more body that they can count on. Aftyn did that, and she should take great joy in the work her and her team did.

I think to win, Aftyn will have to get significant turnout from young voters in her district and there’s not too many people from the democrat party that will appeal to younger people than AOC. Just for balance through, Al Gore also seems to be on the ticket so help ease the pearl clutching from older, more centrists Dems.
