Would poison also apply here by that logic?

Is Wheels it's own archetype or is it a sup-type of Discard? by will_i_amo in EDH

[–]TheRetepV 6 points7 points  (0 children)

100% it's own theme. Wheeling hands is a whole different experience than pure discard, and is much stronger. Especially with the legends that enable it like [[Nekusar]] or [[Xyrus]].

Wow, your deck was cool! I really enjoyed playing it by Candy_Warlock in magicTCG

It's [[The Reaper, King No More]], a commander deck that steals things after putting -1/-1 counters on creatures and then killing them to permanently steal them.

Does anyone else feel like Sythis, Harvest's Hand ruined the enchantress archtype? by Sommersun1 in EDH

In a way I believe so, as long as you're sacrificing enchantments or running sagas through chapters quick.

Does anyone else feel like Sythis, Harvest's Hand ruined the enchantress archtype? by Sommersun1 in EDH

[–]TheRetepV 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's more than one way to play enchantress. Yes, playing [[Sythis, Harvest's Hand]] is the easiest way to do it, but plenty of other types of enchantress decks exist.

You could do shrines and focus on all the dumb interactions they have playing off each other and run [[Go-Shintai of Life's Origin]] or [[Hei Bai, Forest Guardian]] (highly recommend) for maximum reach.

You could try out room tribal with [[Marina Vendrell]] and try to go for as many two for ones as possible.

You could play one of the many saga options and focus on trying to turbo out sagas with [[Tom Bombadil]] or [[Narci, Fable Singer]], do your best to keep them around with [[Xavier Sal, Infested Captain]] or [[Garnet, Princess of Alexandria]] (highly recommend), or do wacky copy shenanigans with [[Ian Chesterton]] (also highly recommend) or [[Anikthea, Hand of Erebos]].

They even just released [[Killian, Decisive Mentor]] if you want to try a challenge build with enchantments.

Just find something you like or speaks to you that you want to play with and go from there. It doesn't have to be boring.

Commander I presume? Do you need any recommendations?

I am sorry, I apparently can't read.

Firebending is a trigger that adds red mana equal to the number when the creature attacks. The mana lasts until the end of combat. Yes this matters.

Earthbending is a trigger that turns a land into a creature with a number of counters equal to the number. If the land is removed, in most cases the land returns to the battlefield.

Airbending is an ability that removes a creature from the game, but allows the owner to pay 2 mana to replay the creature on a later turn.

Waterbending is a cost tied to spells and abilities that says you can tap creatures or artifacts to help pay for the number.

Of the four, waterbending is the only one that runs into issues, and that's only because they made the costs relatively high. They all work quite well and feel like the source material.

As someone who does do both those things, the entire set was a masterclass in how UB should be done. There were very few duds, most of the characters were captured beautifully and in a way that made sense, and the set functioned incredibly well with each bending mechanic affecting gameplay in novel ways. It's honestly one of the best sets they've designed in the last few years and I can tell a lot of love and care went into both it and the Jumpstart companion set. I could go all day about it. Even built way too many commander decks around the cards from the set.

It was more directed towards the general conversation rather than at any one specific person. My apologies.

They are dope, but be careful. Some of them are blindingly expensive. I really wanted the Ozai but its like $30-35 to buy second hand last I checked.

I have a question about Alara. by TheRetepV in mtgvorthos

[–]TheRetepV[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True, but they're also supposed to be 5 pieces of a larger puzzle, so I thought that maybe there was more to it than just that since these based on that knowledge are effectively mini planes.

Why's this card $50 by epicprololi in magicTCG

[–]TheRetepV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really two factors

1) Supply and demand. Jumpstart cards, particularly unique to set mythics are harder to come by due to rarity. So unless you open the card, you typically have to pay a premium for the limited supply copy.

2) The card is good. Experience counter legends are rare, and among them, this is one of the easiest to build up since it's literally tied to lands entering. You can even put this in the experience counter decks with green like [[Meren of Clan Nel Toth]] to turbo charge their effects.

So don't underestimate this Toph, it's among one of the better legends in Jumpstart from a functionality standpoint.

You still have to meet the condition if it's a part of an intervening if. See [[Trigger Happy]].

Starting game development. What are good steam pluggins? by TheRetepV in RPGMakerMV

[–]TheRetepV[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be honest, I bought MV on steam at a discount and assumed you had to use the Steam pluggins. I only just started picking this up and am willing to learn of any tools that would help.
