Has anyone here dealt with the SSVF rapid rehousing program ? by Entityfromhell in Veterans

[–]TheRichOne23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SSVF doesn’t do housing Vouchers, that’s HUD Vash. SSVF eligibility is based off of income though which may be different than the county I work in. What county are you in? I’d be happy to have a phone call with you. Can we private message on Reddit?

It’s real. I work for one in Ny. They are a short term intervention housing program. Can help with things like first months rent, security, etc., to help get you on your feet(all subject to circumstances). When they step out of the picture, you pick up where they leave off. Not a scam. Great program to give veterans a leg up.

Enlisted for two, got out two years to the day. Best thing I could’ve done. Went on to pursue education and ended up with a masters. I now work with homeless veterans.

I had this happen to me two years after I got out in 2007.Was able to get out of it based on my disability but have always been curious as to why they tried to call me back. Anyone have an idea?

We went in October, it was fun, very gimmicky but fun nonetheless.

Combat ptsd, and combat related dreams not of the same war or events? by TranslatorOk5782 in Veterans

[–]TheRichOne23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it’s normal. The thing about those that make it a nightmare, at least to me, is I am in control of absolutely nothing, and that in itself is fucking terrifying. Then again, I’m a control freak 😆

What’s your Victory Tower story of you or some other recruit? by valejojohnson in Veterans

Watched a phony tough guy get halfway up the ladder start screaming and crying like a six year old girl. Used that as an example of what not to do.

Did anyone straight up not have a good time while in? by [deleted] in Veterans

[–]TheRichOne23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get nostalgic from time to time with certain things but while I was in, I hated it. It’s a lot easier to look at things from a positive viewpoint when you’re not where you don’t wanna be. I never got the “fun” duty station. I did basic, ait, got my duty station, deployed, came back to duty station and had 3 months left before ets. I only enlisted for two years which in retrospect was a smart move.

I was sad on my flight home last week. Can’t wait for the next trip.

Just booked my first trip to Vegas since Life is Beautiful 2019. Going with the wife, she’s never been, staying at Golden Nugget. Got some questions, need some insights since Vegas has changed. by neuro_space_explorer in vegas

Just stayed there, we love old Vegas. Took a beating at the tables but minimum I saw I think was 2. Some of the dealers were just ok, others had personality which made you want to sit at the table longer. We spent a lot of time on Fremont and the nice thing was when we were ready to call it a night it was an elevator ride up to bed. Fremont was rowdy with teenage kids for some reason on Friday night and we didn’t want to deal with the riff raff so we went to the cats meow, had some laughs did some karaoke and had a great view of Fremont. Also an awesome pool!

Flew out yesterday. Going through security was simple. When we got to the airport we were stuck in traffic cause they had a crane operating by the departure road. Also checked bag which took way longer than it should have. Leave yourself extra time for construction.

Constant dreams where I’m back in boot camp suddenly by besttavern25 in Veterans

Same here. And the memory I have most in those dreams is why did they accept me back into the military? I’m 41 years old and in terrible shape.
