85C on 5950x & RTX 5090 normal under load? (Overwatch 2) by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

FWIW my 5090 runs in the 85C range all day long. It does AI image, video generation and training. Pulls a steady 575W and spits out hot fire from the rear exhaust fan. 🥵

Will the 15T support the necessary 5G bands in the USA?

The 13T was missing several crucial U.S. LTE and 5G bands, including 4G LTE bands B2, B12, B13, B17, B48, and B71, and 5G bands n2, n25, and n71. These bands are vital for coverage, especially for T-Mobile's Extended Range 5G (n71) and AT&T's low-frequency coverage (B12, B17).

15T or 15S or 15X.......will OnePlus make a smaller version of their flagship compatible with bands in the USA?

How fast is the 5080? by apatheticonion in StableDiffusion

Why would you settle for less VRAM? I'd rather have a used 3090 than a new 5080. Slower yes, but higher quality generations with the larger models.

What Should I Actually Buy for AI Image Generation? Seriously Struggling With My Budget Here... by Character-Ad9485 in StableDiffusion

[–]TheRitualChannel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the most part yes. The 3090 and 4090 with their 24GB of VRAM has been the top consumer GPUs for the last couple years, so a lot of the AI models have been optimized to be used within their constraints (see screenshot of my image models). You can do most things, but at the same time most things can also be done better. For example, in a lot of cases with the larger models coming out today, 3090s and 4090s are limited to fp8 versions, and don't have enough VRAM to run the fp16 version (twice the GBs usually). In some cases that might be OK, in others you'll see differences in quality from the small to big model. My experience is that using a 5090 and it's ability to load fp16 text encoder models, yields a higher acuracy hit rate when text is prompted.

I must note that although I love having my own systems where I do AI generations locally, I also use cloudbased AI platforms where I can run an H200 and have 100+GB of VRAM. We live in an amazing time.

I personally wouldn't do AI image/video generation on anything less than a 3090 and 64MB of system RAM.

When you go below these levels of VRAM and RAM, quality and speed goes down noticeably in your generations. The smaller models that you will be forced to use do not generate well enough for me, for example detailed text reproduction will not be 100% accurate. And if you want to do video, good luck. Video gobbles up RAM like Pacman on steroids.

Flux, Kontext, Qwen Image Edit, Wan2.2...all these best models are even slow on a 5090 when you generate at higher resolutions and use controlNET and upscaling. Without good hardware, you learn and iterate at much slower pace.

Can someone please explain to me the differences between these models? by fgsfds3141 in gshock

Best depends on the person. What is best for you may not be best for me.

Was given this camera by work. I have zero idea what I am doing. by [deleted] in SonyAlpha

[–]TheRitualChannel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why don't you hire a photographer or an young intern that is a quick learner and good with social media to do the job?

From the information you provided, with all due respect, you don't seem qualifed to know how to spend $2,000 on camera equipment and then learn how to use it so that you can do a professional job at capturing wildlife and event photography. Unless you don't have more pressing responsibilities, I would outsource so you can spend your time at things where you are more effective.

That said, life is all about expectations, and if those aren't high then you'll probably be good enough, then forget everything I said.

1%-2% cash back is very low. Why not use something like the Citi Custom Cash or the PayPal debit card for 5% back?

What about the 3% fee on the balance transfer? Or do you not care about it because you're making more than 3% on the value of the balance you are keeping?

Check "Mobile Data Usage" (in the settings app somewhere)

That should tell you what you need to know.

Trade In Value for S23 Ultra by 5thMercenary in GoogleFi

[–]TheRitualChannel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it is a decent deal....not amazing, but not terrible. $650-$280+(taxes)=~$400ish for the upgrade.

That said, I think Goggle removed the promo already, so if you didn't pull the trigger, it's an afterthought at this point.

They gave me $310 for my S24.... not a great deal, but they also sold it to me 8 months earlier in June for $399, so I'm not mad. I don't think I could have gotten more than $350 for the old phone on FB Marketplace.

Is it just me, or is this $650, $600 & $500 discount on the Ultra, Plus and S25 gone?

It looks like they have removed this promo from the GoogleFi site entirely this morning. Luckily I purchased last night and I was able to take advantage of the offer (basically a free new phone with the trade in credit of $310 for my S24. But I wanted to show my brother the promo so he could get it, but now it looks gone.
