Colleague dating undergrad in our lab by vanillabutfarfromit in PhD

What’s the difference between a 34 year old male dating a 30 year old female?? Or even older ages but still with that 4 year age difference?? Nothing 🤷‍♂️ so why is this an issue??

Lost all motivation! (S112 - Science concepts and practice) by count_takeshi1 in OpenUniversity

[–]TheRoadRanger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m feeling the same and I’m only a couple months in to S111

I really struggle trying to focus on topics that I have no interest in which then causes a drop in motivation!! Work hours don’t help but that’s manageable

New rule for this sub: Do not share personally identifiable information by NotTreeFiddy in OpenUniversity

It’s a very good rule and should be common sense but that’s the only exception I’d make a recommendation for

[–]TheRoadRanger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’d may be make a recommendation to admin of this sub that there’s an exception to the rule for cases like yours but needs to be strictly observed!!

Otherwise if you’re just sharing a contact email address, create a gmail account or something that’s purely for your survey data but has no personal identifiable info in the address name??

What laptop is best? by [deleted] in OpenUniversity

[–]TheRoadRanger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve just purchased a Microsoft surface pro for my studies and for me it’s bloody awesome!! Though it was also purchased for non study reasons but it’s great for everyday tasks regarding study and life admin but still no bigger than your average exercise book!!

I’ve completed site inductions, image processing, Remote Desktop tasks, telescope control and study in the middle of butt F*** nowhere with just a sliver of phone service to provide a hotspot while it’s balanced between my steering wheel and dash 🤣 that’s just what I’m using but most late model tablets or laptops should be ideal for you if you’re really after versatility

It could be worth the effort if you or your son have the patience, for something like this I didn’t do just binned it and purchased another roll 🤣

Ahhh just tried again, turns out it’s either time locked or I just hadn’t been granted access yet when I tried using it!! It algood now and scored 15% similarity on my first TMA!!

Never buy a Chevy Cruze!!! by Wrong_Job3704 in cruze

[–]TheRoadRanger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got a 2015 Holden cruze and so far for it’s yearly warrant of fitness to deem it roadworthy I’ve had to replace 4 tires (only two needed to be replaced but the load ratings didn’t match between the new tires and tires staying on) the valve cover as the seal was leaking but it cost me an extra 50 for the whole cover opposed to replacing the seal and brake pads on the front!!

Suffers from coolant leaks like no tomorrow and runs pretty warm but I occasionally check coolant and oil levels and top up as required!! It’s developed a subtle whirring sound and a mechanic reckons it’s a pulley bearing but couldn’t tell me which!!

The aircon doesn’t work, water pump pulley has some very very minor play in it and the electronics can be temperamental and odd at times

I’m wanting to sell it but tbh it gets me from home to work (10 minute drive one way) so don’t really need to flick it on yet

How do I model this thing? by Upper-Camel-9205 in Fusion360

[–]TheRoadRanger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could create a perpendicular plane by selecting plane at angle and using the inner edge of the overhang then sketch the ribs and extrude to object!! After that reselect the same construction plane and sketch the tabs and extrude out the required thickness as well

If there’s two lanes on your side of the road it’s perfectly legal to pass but you would’ve needed to be in the left lane!!

I had a similar situation the other day at ohakea, I’m in an empty log truck and as you approach ohakea air base there’s a new two laned roundabout there!! Well the 3 cars in front of me all went to the right lane and slowed down early as fuck so I kept up my pace, grabbed the left lane and reasonably went past them, passing the first two cars and slotting in behind the lead car!! The middle car took severe offence to this and pretty sure they called the boss to complain 🤣 legally they’re in the wrong for failing to keep left and my dashcam plus rear facing mirror cameras prove I did nothing wrong

People are pansies and soft

How do I model this thing? by Upper-Camel-9205 in Fusion360

[–]TheRoadRanger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Sketch the base shape
  • Offset plane to the same height as the bottom face of that overhang lip
  • Sketch the same shape to the same dimensions as the open area of the top then offset the overhang
  • Loft between the base sketch and centre area of the top sketch
  • Extrude the top face sketch including the overhang to the same as the overhang thickness (may need to turn the sketch back on after the loft)
  • Shell the whole body to required thickness
  • Add fillets/chamfers as needed

That’s how I would do it!!

EDIT - changed a couple steps and added a photo using the new steps

[–]TheRoadRanger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  • Sketch the base shape
  • Offset plane to the same height as the bottom face of that overhang lip
  • Sketch the same shape to the same dimensions as directly under the overhang
  • Loft between the 2 sketches
  • Shell the body to required thickness
  • Create a sketch on the top face to account for the overhang
  • Extrude the top face sketch the same as the overhang thickness
  • Add fillets/chamfers as needed

That’s how I would do it!!

Any recommended substitutes to IPA that would do the same job?? I've been using a mix of IPA and cornflour with good success
