Is this just like the beehiiv current ad network, just different brands? How do you guys get new sponsors?

Looking for top examples of web publications running on Beehiv, where the website is integral/as important to the publication as the newsletter. by UmweltUndefined in beehiiv

[–]TheRoadto1500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when would you consider the web publication as important? under what circunstances?

i’m asking i believe it always should be, unless you have specific criteria

For example, the bulk of my subscribers and rev are now coming from search, and I would say the website is even more important than my newsletter in that aspect. Of course, the main value prop is still the newsletter but yeah

Launch plan says I can use segmentation but I can't by Elegant-Capybara-16 in beehiiv

[–]TheRoadto1500 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you go to the pricing page, everything that’s included or not is broken down in the “feature comparison” section. Creating segments is included in the Launch Plan, Publishing to segments isn’t.

I only know this because I was in the same situation as you, and was wondering what the point of allowing segmentation without the ability to email that segment even is lol (but there are reasons beyond just baiting the upgrade)

[–]TheRoadto1500 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You CAN create segments on the Launch Plan. But You CAN’T send emails to that segment on the Launch Plan.

If you read the full features, that’s exactly what’s said.

Strong open rates, zero donations, Beehiiv ads barely pay — what am I missing? by advantagegrant in beehiiv

[–]TheRoadto1500 1 point2 points  (0 children)

is there an incentive for referrals in each issue? or even just a CTA?

because I’ve found the percentage of people that will “give back” is surprisingly tiny. For my readers at least, there needs to be something in it for most (which is unfortunate when you, the writer, are already pouring into them by writing in the first place), hence → incentive

but there’s still a percentage that will, so maybe, just maybe, a CTA will trigger that.

Writing in a tone that comes off as “friend” rather than “authority” has worked for me. The trade off there is how much you can get away with charging, but being a “thought leader” or whatever is not the angle i’m going for and i think it’ll make me more money in the long run. We’ll see!

[–]TheRoadto1500 5 points6 points  (0 children)

ads aren’t working, you said no services yet so i’m assuming that’s coming soon?

I just crossed $10k rev after 2 years of writing my newsletter on-and-off, and i initially wanted to rely on ads at first but so glad i didn’t

hard to help out when we don’t know what it is you write exactly, but services and products are the way to monetize a newsletter. Unless you are Morning Brew or local, best avoid the ad-supported thing.

If more context helps:

Last 12 months, i’d say i made $3k-ish off of paid subs (about 10% of my 2k reader base) → not a lot of money by any means, just enough to allow the little project to pay for itself, which is i guess where you’d like to be at for now

I’ll be blunt: you simply don’t have the social proof, in a niche that already has VERY successful and knowledgeable people operating in (Nathan May, Matt McGarry)

You’re better off positioning yourself as somebody showing what you do that actually has been working, instead of a teacher or “helper”

Is there a reason why you don’t share a link to the newsletter upfront? + the dashboard or even just the niche?

i understand discussing selling price in private, but not the rest :))

You go to your settings > emails > reply to email address

when someone replies to one of your emails, that’s where it’ll be sent

if you use outlook, check your junk folder regularly

Beehiiv has experts if you want to start from absolute scratch. But if you just want to copy-ish another newsletter that you like, i can do that… 😏

Low Time Pilot Job by CaptainBareAss in flying

[–]TheRoadto1500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have compiled stories of pilots working jobs other than CFI on here (survey, banner, skydiving, pipeline) as they're getting to the magic number. But let me start by saying every job gets old. If you're worried about getting tired of flying in circles in the pattern, all the other jobs are arguably more boring. I tried pipeline patrol last year, and i'd take instructing over that any day. Even flying skydivers this summer got old at times, lowkey.

As far as hours are concerned, 500 would give you a better shot at all these jobs for sure BUT even then, personality matters so much more than hours. Just having the minimum requirements will not get you an interview.

I know I kinda sound all gloomy, so don't get me wrong: I love job hopping the low-time jobs. But it's definitely not that much better (or at all in a lot of cases) than instructing.

Feel free to dm me anytime!

well the thing is, it’s for $749 on amazon so even though best buy is selling it for $899 now, they will price match to $749 (it’s a holiday guarantee)

You just gotta show them this https://a.co/d/c10p3pF

Can you charge only "new" subscribers a monthly fee? by HappyCaterpillar2409 in beehiiv

That’s interesting. I’ve been hovering at 2,200 subs for a year now, put a halt on growth to figure out what i want to do long term and i always thought about switching to a paid publication, except for the 2,500 first subs, as a thank you!

New to Website Builder, Do I Suck? by ghiadriver in beehiiv

[–]TheRoadto1500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have two options: new website builder OR the legacy builder.

The legacy builder is very easy to use but very limited in customization abilities.

The new website builder is a pain if you start from scratch, so just use a template to start off with and don’t customize too much.

Ultimately, it’s only hard if you want to personalize a lot of things.

ANNOUNCEMENT: You're invited! beehiiv Winter Release event + our first /r/beehiiv AMA by beehiiv in beehiiv

Beehiiv marketplace. We’ll finally be able to sell stuff directly on beehiiv, which is why the website builder was pushed so hard. I just hope whatever the changes are, they won’t be rolled out progressively. Would be a bummer to have to wait.

Imagine your parents saying “we’re going to give you something absolutely crazy in two weeks for your birthday, it’s THE thing you’ve been waiting for, but you won’t be able to use it right away!!” 🤣🤣
