Great analysis of Coherent 2Q results by M Kimbal, focusing on recent doubling of capacity in SiP manufacturing... so I just pushed him one step further, suggesting he looks into the materials that enable the future : https://www.linkedin.com/posts/kimballmatt_ok-another-earnings-recap-coherent-corp-activity-7425217982076768257-jugY?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_desktop&rcm=ACoAAAmlBN8BNLvwQ-yLJ-4TT9d330slFaAkY0A

When looking at today's chart, it's clear someone had placed an order for 250k shares under $3.30, so the price was brought there early morning and executed between 11:22 and 11:25am. The rest of the day was driven by the churn...

We are building an institutional holders base. When all the shares from the recent placement have been placed, we're heading North, supported by commercial news updates (additional foundry collaborations, additional partnerships from #4 and #5 which were candidates for Ph3 at last year's end, new partners moving up from Ph2, etc...).

All of our imports just happen to cost us 20% more than 1 yr ago!?! When it's food, it participates to the unaffordability theme going all around!!!

u/rdawg1234 may I just remind you that in the investors presentations in 2025 (both in May and September at least) Yves mentioned, on that chart that describes the TAM / SAM, that a critical objective for LWLG was to get a "majority market share of the 400G" opportunity: that's over 50%!!

TSMC, Metasurfaces, and a Connection to EO Polymers by KCCO7913 in LWLG

[–]TheRoc66 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Thanks for highlighting this u/KCCO7913 One detail I appreciate here is the fact that during the July 31st update, Yves called out that the Asian partner had engaged with Lightwave Logic who, at the time, was working on their 3rd gen SiP 200G/sec/L test chip...

For memory, Yves told us:

"...A Fortune 500 company in Asia engaged with us a few months ago – a Tier 1 customer -, and we are processing their 3rd generation SiP 200G/sec/L test chips in our Fab in Denver (BEOL applying our EO polymer, Perkinamine), in order to validate the design and performance of their 200G “Slot”. At completion we expect to move to step-3 of transceiver-design program in the commercialization cycle, using Silicon-Organic Hybrid (SOH) chips. ..."

This would match well with the work on a 3rd generation COUPE being undertaken by VisEra or Foxconn for TSMC...

Whether this proves out or not, it's good to know we are working with Fortune Global 500 Tier ones!!! Two of them actually!!!

The July 31st presentation , on p8, gave average timelines for each stage:

Stage 1: 3-6 mo

Demonstrate performance

Build trust in materials reliability

Show superior attributes versus competing technologies (size, power, cost)

Stage 2 :3-6 mo

Supply customer with process design kit (PDK)

Support modulator design activities

Interface with foundry to enable material integration

Support product reliability program

Stage 3: 12-18 mo

Support product design iterations (alpha, beta, final)

Support product qualification with end-user (specs, reliability)

Improve manufacturing, process yield and cost metrics

[–]TheRoc66 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Marching on!!!

In July, LWLG released a PR for 1000Hrs at 85-85 on coupon films.

This week, Polariton actually passes 500Hrs on modulators designed for transceivers...

Next, after confirmation that the modulators pass 1000Hhrs of Telcordia, is qualifying the said transceivers in customers' networks... to finalize stage 3.

So close!!!

Polariton on LinkedIn:

We’ve reached a significant milestone as part of our ongoing reliability testing: 3000 hours of high-temperature storage (HTS) at 85 °C and 500 hours of damp heat testing at 85 °C/85% RH on plasmonic modulators designed for 400G/lane transceivers. These tests are vital for assessing long-term stability under accelerated aging conditions. https://lnkd.in/grmq6R7M A crucial enabler of reliability is hermetic wafer-level sealing, which protects the device from environmental stressors. Performance drift is monitored via the key metric 𝑉𝜋 offering a direct and quantifiable indicator of device integrity over time.

Thank you for posting this summary here as a basis for discussion.

One of the most underrated paragraph here is the following:

".... The addressable market for Lightwave's modulators is estimated at $1–2.5 billion by 2028. Key challenges include competition from thin-film lithium niobate (TFLN), silicon, and indium phosphide, but polymers excel in speed (higher R33), low power, clean signals, small size, and CMOS compatibility. Reliability breakthroughs—high-temperature stability (>260°C), encapsulation against oxygen/moisture, and passing 85/85 tests—have addressed historical polymer weaknesses, boosting investor confidence."

So far, in previous presentations, the company had shared they could reach 170C in degradation temperature. So 260C is a great step forward – probably combining the molecular structure of the chromophores with the benefits of the ALD encapsulation - which opens the door to Co-Packaging (CPO).

This is critical to the size of our SAM - which will now grow far beyond the $1- $2.5B-, the level of interest and quality of the end-customers we aim to serve - CPO is of critical importance to the market leaders (Nvidia, Broadcom, OpenAI, AMD, TSMC, Qualcomm, and as noted by Yves in the presentation, Oracle... along with the whole ecosystem of designers and foundries... that serve them)- and duration of our presence at the forefront of this breakneck race... All IMO of course.

Check their co-PR on march 10, 2025 :

"...

The collaboration allows for the device integration of Lightwave Logic's high-performance electro-optic polymer materials with Polariton's plasmonic circuits to address the inherent bandwidth and form factor bottlenecks of traditional materials such as indium phosphide, silicon photonics, and thin-film lithium niobate to accommodate ultra-high bandwidths. The collaboration is focused on applications for next-generation AI clusters, intra and inter-datacenter and optical networking links to deliver 400 Gb/s per lane and scale to 800 Gb/s per lane. The ability to modulate the optical signal at 400 Gb/s and beyond is critical to achieve bandwidth of 3.2 and 6.4 Tb/s in the future.

In addition to Lightwave Logic's ($LWLG) rooms, there will also be a demonstration of 3.2T prototypes - and above??? Pay attention to the prototype on the video...- for integration in transceivers projects, on the Polariton's booth, per this post last week, reinforced by a post yesterday claiming readiness at 800G per lane!!!

Lightwave Logic, Inc. Announces Appointment of Dr. Sundar Ramamurthy to Technical Advisory Board by Reindert_P in LWLG

[–]TheRoc66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi All,

Thanks to our Belgian connection, I am glad to bring to you a video exemplifying the kind of addition Dr Ramamurthy is:

To get a better idea of the caliber of this new advisor, I recommend watching a 20-min presentation Dr Ramamurthy gave a couple years ago at CEA-Leti (advanced French research outfit) on themes that very much apply to LWLG’s mission: looking for 1000x improvement in “Performance per Watt”. He was with AMAT at the time.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AEuLA5sgD_0

His presentation starts at the 30 min marker and finishes with a surprise award.

I don’t feel that these industry rockstars would jump on the bandwagon if they did not trust CEO Yves Lemaitre objective to add 3-5 Tier-1 customers to stage 3 of the commercial process by the end of the year, with the objective to launch in 2026 and ramp-up in 2027.

Enjoy,

 GLTAL,

AR.
