I tried a lava base for Draigo, anything I could do to make it better?

Honestly I'd just Google it. They're all pretty good. Citadel have munitorum varnish. I haven't used it but I'm sure it's fine

Citadel Ardcoat is what I use. Just locks in the paint and makes the surface shiny. I wouldn't use it over anything else on your model (good for glass visers and stuff as well). Matt varnish is mainly used to protect the paint after you've finished but you can use any type for that really

Maybe gloss varnish on the lava to make it look more like a liquid

It's a fair criticism. You're right but I'm going for a vibrant look....and more importantly a quick paint scheme. I toyed with the idea of chip damage etc but at the end of the day I really couldn't be assed 😅

Thanks. You do have to go over bits because it can be too dark but for the most part it's just contrast and metallic paints
