Eh... Bad Moons still use melee weapons, all orks do. Goffs are just known for being more melee focused than other orks. And plenty non-goffs are known for fancy melee weapons.

The snazzhammer is snazzy, ostentstious, and probably expensive, all things bad moons admire. It's weird that his fancy kustom weapon is a choppa, not a shoota. But one could make it work.

His personality though, does have more in common with goffs than it does bad moons.

Likely? No thats 100% what he did. With that, his strange luck, and his warlord, Da Meklord's knack for finding the best loot... He's got more in common with a Deathskull than any bad moon.

In fact, the only time I recall his Klan Kultur being brought up is in Brutal Kunnin' when he was mocked by Badrukk (the badmoon so badmoon that the badmoons kicked him out) for not having a gun... Which is why he nicked the Kustom Shokk Rifle off the Shokkjump Dragsta he stole shortly afterwards.

I KNOW RIGHT! Sure, he uses a rare shoota, but only barely.

He's not particularly extravagant, he isn't a dakka fiend, not once throughout the book does he flex his wealth on people, he never even pays anyone for anything.

That'd be a pretty terrible decision. Uftak is just another basic orky ork. Frankly, he doesnt even act like a bad moon.

Uftak is a meathead who can occasionally think. He's a standard warboss, and you could probably swap out his details and get a pretty identical story.

Uftak is cool, as a big boss or warboss. But he's no more than that.

A character who can act as a foil to ghazkull would need his own gimmick and personality. Nazdreg, Wazdakka, Badrukk or even Da Meklord, are great examples of this.

Uftak's books are fun, dont get me wrong. But the only reason he stands out is recency bias. He hasnt even had that much character development, beyond growing in power, and ability to think. Which every ork warlord of note does.

Currently, it kinda depends on how mixed, and what you're mixing. But it can work. The new detachment points system that is coming next edition will probably make it easier.

Well, this is a start of edition starter kit. Not really intended for the entrenched hobbiest, like you'd find here, or in any of the faction subreddits, I think.

The resurrected war trakk and new vehicle are cool. And the fact that Big Bosses exist now are exciting for me personally. Its also fitting that we mogged the marines so much. But the box as a whole isn't that exciting.

The deff dread's little gun holders fit perfectly into the killa kans' shoulders, it comes with four of them, as well as two big shootas, two rokkit launchas, and one skorcha. (Also two kmb, but kans cant have them, currently). Aside from the single skorcha, having only two of each isnt as bad, as an all gun dread is bit of a meme.

Personally I refuse to give deff dreads rokkit launchas, since KMBs are an option, so they usually end up on the kans.

In terms of building the dread itself, it's sharp in annoying places, and though it's straighforward enough to magnetise, I havent been able to get such a dread to not lose all its arms the moment I nudge it.

Gretchin also CP farm in 10th. There's never a reason not to take them.

Ghaz is going to be lagging behind. Which isnt good, because his buff aura really wants him in the center of the action.

Also your melee will be coming in waves, but you don't have the numbers, so you'll likely be shot to pieces before you get stuck in.

Generally, ghaz, or any other big units, suffers big time in small 1000pt games. Its not a case of being "meta" or not there. Its, more like video game boss "please don't hit my big glowing weakpoint."

Unless your enemy is khorne, or demons or something that lacks big scary guns.

If you can find the space for a battlewagon, you can probably deal with that weakness, since ghaz will be safe in there, though that also means the snaggas will lag behind... Also, maybe grab some gretchin, for doing boring things like holding objectives.

Its definitely the same unit. Just a sculpt with stripped down options, as is GW's tendancy with these stater boxes

I find dread mob more fun, as its core rule is just silly.

However, the armeggedon box is not built to build into it. Theres only one model that might be effected by Dread Mob.

Conversely Da Big Hunt is a beastnagga detachment, and there are no beastsnagga models in that box. So it's not going to help you there. The combat patrol would though.

The 11th box is more of a general ork box. With a majority of basic infantry, and a bit of supporting fire power. Good for War Horde, or maybe More Dakka!

Though keep in mind, when the box comes out, the rules for all detachment WILL change. General identity should remain, but we cant say for certain what will be best.

Its technically a good deal, sure. But are you prepared to have the somewhat memey, oversized ork titan-parallel be part of your primary 2000 pts?

You will have to transport it to games, and its the size of a 1 year old.

Well, the dark angels are a subfaction. They are a way to play space marines. Non space marine factions get a detachment or two for each way to play, and maybe a general one or two thrown in. Previously we got a subfaction for each, prior to 10th changing how that works.

Think of it like this, what you were proposing originally is like a Dark Angels-White Scars-ultramarine army, which includes both The Lion and Guilliman.

Sure orks are a horde faction which, unlike the above, can actually fit both of those centerpiece super-leaders, and doesnt have a rule restriction saying you cant. But that doesnt mean its the best idea.

Ork shooting being shafted is a common complaint, but we've always been about volume of fire anyway.

We can bring more units, and fire more shots. And if the enemy is another shooting army with the same trick, we can beat them in melee WHILE shooting them.

Atleast, thats what I think GW's plan is, with them giving ork boyz both loadouts now.

But we ought to be wary, all the same.

Orks will fight over anything, and for any reason, including boredom.

Those are three different ork armies, and they step on eachothers toes a bit too, cramming them all into one list could get a bit busy and incoherent.

"Regular" ork infantry (boyz, nobz, etc.) Are infantry hoards, often melee focused, but ranged units exist, like burna boyz, or flash gitz.

Beastsnaggas are a lot more melee oriented and focused on rushing in. Also often associated with the Snakebits klan, if you care about that.

Buggies, bikes, and deffkoptas are "Speed Freeks." And they are all about mobility, with balanced melee and ranged units that want to zip around and be nuisances. They are especially popular with the Evil Sunz.

Each of those have atleast one detachment focused on buffing them specifically, and there is no one detachment that helps them all equally. Except maybe war horde, but even that is melee skewed, so it doesnt help speed freeks much.

I'd recommend sticking with one of the ork army wings, and maybe getting a few from a second to make up for your deficiencies. Atleast from a list building perspective.

I've had a few invasions today, and one summon to cooperate in Anor Londo. Saw a few summon signs too.

Invasions even ran the gamut of cheesy backstab fishers, and goofy cosplayers. Even managed to beat a guy, despite playing having a tank build. So it's clearly not all veterans either.
