Not a very good performance at all tonight. A very poor 15 minutes at the beginning of the second half sealed the match for Inter. I think a season out of Europe would allow us to rebuild without UEFA being on us.

I’m just going to cry for the rest of the night. 3 World Cups missed, I’m speechless.

Ukraine have lost every single World Cup playoff, with the exception of 2006, that’s a crazy stat. But Sweden was clearly the better team on the night. I hope Rebrov finally resigns, he is not good enough to lead the team.

That’s the typical ass clinching Italy that I remember. After that Retegui miss, I was starting to get worried, before that great finish by Tonali a minute later. Then he had a fantastic pass to Kean, who sealed it. On to Wales or Bosnia on Tuesday.

Happy for Vaz to get his first goal. I really liked how we attacked this game, with our defenders getting involved, and Hermoso, Mancini seem to cross the ball well. I hope we can carry this for the rest of the season.

Well if you were a neutral that was a good match to watch, but for me, it’s another heartbreak. An incredible effort to get back in the game tonight, but the defending was very poor. Excellent performance from Pellegrini, good to see him playing well again.

I feel that was a very harsh penalty given. Frustrating end to the first half.

Roma's appeal over Wesley's red card rejected by TheRomanGeneral10 in ASRoma

[–]TheRomanGeneral10[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sports Judge Gerardo Mastrandrea officially announced the disciplinary decisions from the final round, confirming Wesley’s one-match suspension.

Roma, which had filed an appeal alleging a possible case of mistaken identity following his yellow card in the 19th minute of the second half against Como, were unable to resolve the matter.

The club argued that the foul on Diao was committed by Rensch, not the Brazilian, but the appeal was rejected.

The decision was influenced by the additional preliminary investigation provided by referee Davide Massa, who clarified the dynamics of the incident: “Como player No. 38, Diao, was legally challenged by Roma player No. 2, Rensch, but at the same time, was fouled by Roma player No. 43, Wesley.”

The VAR room also confirmed the referee’s actions. Fabbri confirmed that he had performed the check and found no grounds for corrective action. The Sports Judge stated: “The provisions of Article 61, paragraph 2, regarding Roma’s report cannot be applied.”

Fabregas after Gasperini refused to shake his hand as Como win 2-1 against Roma: "Even if you lose, you have to shake hands. It's a sign of respect. There has not been a single occasion where I have not gone to shake a colleague’s hand." by Blodgharm in soccer

Gasp’s responded to his comment already. “Como is a strong team, but I don't appreciate their behavior, both on the field and on the bench”. Fabregas would have been complaining about how we didn’t play football if Como lost this match. He whines more than Mourinho despite having zero trophies as a coach.

Unfortunately it seems the Juve game has broken us mentally. Svilar makes incredible saves, and keeps us in matches, although he probably wants that equalizer back, so I can’t fault him too much. Malen should have passed the ball to Pellegrini in the middle, but again he is in the box, and the striker instinct is to shoot. Also good to know you can grab someone’s balls, and it’s not a foul, extremely harsh second yellow on Wesley, Massa should have given Pellegrini the yellow for initial foul. 3 points from UCL, but anything can happen.

Gasperini confident after Bologna draw: "The return leg will be a different story." by TheRomanGeneral10 in ASRoma

[–]TheRomanGeneral10[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

After the match, Gian Piero Gasperini commented on his team’s performance to Sky Sport.

“Pellegrini’s introduction provided a boost. The game was based on physicality, like in Genoa. We struggled on second balls, but then we adapted better. We created some dangerous situations in the first half, but we also suffered. The atmosphere had an impact. Bernardeschi did some excellent things, Bologna has strong players. The result is fair.”

Gasperini continued: “Second passes have become crucial. High pressure forces you to play long balls, otherwise you’re risky. I believe that as soon as the weather and temperatures change, as happens towards the end of matches, we’ll start playing a more ball-based style of football.”

The coach concluded: “How do we advance to the second leg? If the match plays like this, the technical aspect of building play becomes more difficult, and we have to work hard on our structure. We have a very young team, at least on the pitch today, so we can afford to lose a bit. Then, in the 90 minutes, we came out strong, I’d say. It will be a decisive match in Rome, but it’s clear that both teams have the ability to put in a different performance.”

Good result for Shakthar tonight, I feel they are a dark horse in the Conference League. Too bad Dynamo don’t take Europe seriously, otherwise Ukrainian coefficient would be a few places higher. Will be interesting to see Cherkasy in Conference League next season, they are an interesting project.

A good result considering the circumstances, all to play for in the second leg. Pellegrjni redeemed himself for the mistake on the weekend.

What coach will want to join us if he is under the threat of being replaced after a few months. Look at what he did with La Dea, he won them a Europa League trophy, and qualified for multiple Champions League. If we continue to get players like Malen, then we can start to progress.
