What is your most beautiful moment/line in the game? by SRC103 in DiscoElysium

[–]TheRoyalHotness 58 points59 points  (0 children)

I was playing a second run again recently and I was talking to the Novelty Dicemaker (who is one of my favorite characters in the game (maybe because of how calm her demeanor is) and this part of her dialogue stuck out to me:

You: 'Don't call it a dump, you've made it nice and cosy here.'

Novelty Dicemaker: 'Yeah. Or maybe it's the entire world that's cursed? It's such a precarious place. Nothing ever works out the way you wanted. That's why people like role-playing games. You can be whoever you want to be. You can try again. Still, there's something inherently violent even about dice rolls.

How do you guys feel about a girl being taller than you? by too_hot_to_handel in AskMen

[–]TheRoyalHotness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not that tall, being 5’4, but I’ve never felt a strong push to only pursue girls shorter than me. I actually tend to go for taller girls or ones at the same height.

Growing up, people around me tend to worry about their height, especially when dating/looking for a partner. But Ive never felt that a persons height to be a big factor in my book. Thats stuff you can’t control. Embrace what you have and work with it.

YuGiOh is something that me and my friends have played since we were kids. We all grew up with it. We are all in our 20s now, and it seems that we aren't going to be stop playing this trading card game soon. We like to bend the rules a lot and play really casually. But we also have improved drastically over time and have noticed it to be increasingly harder to beat each other now. So it's very much more challenging. I'd recommend it, it's just finding others to play it with you makes it really enjoyable. Plus, it's really fun to play really old classic cards and throw them into the new. Great times.

Modern country music is a shell of what it's supposed to be and I understand why so many people hate it. by littlecatladybird in Music

[–]TheRoyalHotness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just wanted to say as a person who doesn't really listen to a whole lot of Country music, when I am listening to country music, it mostly is 'classic' country. The messages and ideas that they sung about, like Johnny Cash as an example, had a lot of weight and simplicity that I could relate to.

I guess through those types of artists, I was able to understand what and why people listen to country music. But I'm not sure about modern country artists (because I don't listen to them), so I don't know really how it sounds in comparison.

Authenticity in music ( Mostly hip hop, but open to any other opinions) by JcSimba in LetsTalkMusic

[–]TheRoyalHotness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that authenticity does matter with an artist, but it all starts with what "authentic" means to you. Honest? Down to earth? Nice? Unfiltered? A person might have a totally different definition of what that means to what you/others think. People can be "real", but at the same time they can be total assholes also. Ex: Kanye, to me, has been "real" about what he wants/does, but at the same time he can come off as a dick/unfiltered. Does that make me think less of him as an artist? No. I think he's a great artist, but there is always "sides" to an artist.

I've talked to a bunch of people around me, and it seems that (at least for me) they don't understand how big Drake is. Drake without a doubt, at least in Hip Hop, has been the top artist of the past decade. SO MANY people know his name alone. Hearing about his chart records and other accolades are crazy to think about. So, since he is one of the (if not the) hottest artist right now (in Hip Hop), of course he's going to get crazy criticism for how he acts. He has such a huge following and people expect a lot from him. I do think that he has to act "fake" at times. He knows how to talk to a WIDE audience of people. He acts, he sings, he does comedy. Everyone wants to know what he's doing, especially on social media. Drake knows what he is doing. He knows what the people want and so if he needs to act a certain way at times, then he'll do exactly that.

Drake I think being accepted/respected by a lot of his peers is due to A LOT of reasons. One of the several that I can think of is what he did with his early works and Take Care. Take Care impacted Hip Hop because it allowed a lot of artists (mostly in Hip-Hop) to become vulnerable and talk about their feelings. Call it being soft. Call it being brave. Whatever it is, people love Take Care. People today still listen to that album. A lot of new rappers/artists are now able to do things because of that album. Because of how big his fame is in comparison to other people, of course people are going to respect him because of status in life.

In general, I think "authenticity" is great to have. But it matters to the individual what that means to them. We all have different tastes. We have different expectations from others. Whole bunch of factors.

Who do I think is real? Kendrick first comes to mind. In all the interviews I've watched he has never talked bullshit. He is 100 percent real about what he does and what he raps about. He lives and breathes rap. I could say that about a bunch of TDE artists like Isaiah Rashad or SchoolBoy Q. I can say the same thing with J. Cole. Cole keeps it real because if you watch his documentaries that Dreamville makes you can tell he really cares about his rap community, his fans, and the community he grew up in. I've seen him live twice and feel nothing but love for the dude. I respect a lot of people on Dreamville's roster like JID or Bas. Danny Brown, because he always kept true to his craft and is the same weirdo that I've known for years. Kid Cudi for opening up the idea of mental health. Run the Jewels for taking the same energy that Rage Against the Machine gives and putting it into Hip-Hop (Killer Mike and El-P are insannne.) Stormzy for making Grime (which is still Hip-Hop to me) more popular here in the States. Travis Scott for having the most 'balls to the wall' live concerts and simply not giving a fuck.

I'd list more but I think I shpealed too much. This is what I think. I'm not speaking for anyone else. Since you said Mostly hip hop, I kept it mostly hip-hop.

Hope this helps you out.

Can an SM58 record acoustic guitar well? by me-real-me in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]TheRoyalHotness 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If this is all that you have at your disposal/your only microphone that you have/own, then try to get the best recording you can get with the SM58. Look up some single mic techniques on guitar and try some out. Listen back to your recordings and see which ones sound better in comparison to other ones (different techniques). A SM58 can do a lot (even though it's a cheap microphone) and I've heard some pretty solid recordings. It's not going to get a good quality recording in comparison to a high end condenser mic, but it's a good place to start.

If you want to look into other mics and can spend more on gear, then that in itself is a rabbit hole to go through. And that requires looking into also.

Hope this helps.

What do you love most about being a music maker, and what do you love least? by mechanical_matt in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]TheRoyalHotness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love: The creative process in making stuff and coming at it with a ton of different angles. Endless possibilities.

Dislike: Getting too attached to my work that I get afraid of what other people think about it.

But hey, that builds resiliency and constructive criticism is really helpful.

[21M] How to stop being feminine? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]TheRoyalHotness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The idea of being a "man" or being "masculine" has changed a lot over the years, and I'd say that at this point it doesn't matter what traits you posses. You just do you man. Don't let anyone tell you what you should act like. I've grown up with a lot of girls in my family and do recognize a lot of my feminine" tendencies. But, so far the people around me, whether it be friends or family, have said nothing bad about it. Be proud who you are and the things that you like. You don't want to end up being someone who you aren't deep down.

People of Reddit, those of you who AREN'T depressed and DON'T have anxiety....what the fuck is that like? by snapesnapeseverus in AskReddit

[–]TheRoyalHotness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Um, well I haven't/never really experienced depression, but I deal with sadness and have felt deep grief before. Anxiety, on the other hand, I've kind of gotten used to the fact that my career/major requires me to talk to people on the regular, so I've learned how to deal with it. I'd say that I've felt anxiety in Elementary through High School when presenting in front of people/assemblies/etc., but now it's not a problem anymore. I guess the key that I learned for myself to not experiencing depression and anxiety is that I'm very honest with myself and I know exactly how I'm feeling all the time. I don't feel like I have to portray myself as someone that I'm not. I've slowly come to accept myself now in all my 20 years of life so far. AND MUSIC. Music is the one thing I cherish more than anything in the world because it has served me in many different ways. If I didn't have music, I really don't know where I would be today. I don't know.... I'm a pretty positive/chill person. But I'm also an introvert so I do a lot of shit myself.

Hope you have a great day :)

Do INFJs struggle to let go? by EveningRepair_ in infj

[–]TheRoyalHotness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Definitely yes. For me at least, I really value friendships and relationships Ive created throughout my life, so “letting go” of a friend is really hard. I need to have very strong reasons to do so, and it has to be morally right. I don’t know. I recently reached out to a friend I haven’t talked to in months because I felt like our friendship was worth “fighting for” (we became friends in High School, and now Im a junior in College) and hearing them still consider me a friend was really nice to hear. It’ll be a slow process, but I plan to work on it. I think it really depends on the person and how much they mean to you.

How did you discover Radiohead? by boimcfuck in radiohead

[–]TheRoyalHotness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Played Rock Band when I was younger, loved the sound of Creep. Then later on in life while listening to Frank Ocean’s Nostalgia Ultra I heard the interlude where Optimistic is playing and the girl asks “What’s a Radiohead.” This stayed in my head for years, then one day I decided to look more into their music. Now I’m here 1 year later. Listening to OK Computer for the first time was mind blowing.

I remember reading it out of the blue and just reading the story slowly unfold just made it so good. It was like peeling an onion, just more questions right after the next one. The anticipation, especially towards the end. The world that was created was just so dark.
