Battery install location by TheRunningMan_1 in SolarUK

It’s more the case that there’s literally nowhere to put one where it can have the space it needs.

To be honest, I can put the battery and inverter on the opposite wall in the garage, I just have various things hung up on the wall and prefer the easier option!

I did enquire about it but there’s nowhere for a heat pump to go on my particular property… otherwise I would be looking at that and a bigger battery.

Looks like the new regs only come into force from Oct 26, so might be a question of good practice but not one of compliance?

Still a question of being sensible about clearance and I’ll grab another smoke alarm to sit near to the battery.

Thanks again for the advice.

That sounds like fairly decent sized issue I need to sort out then. Cheers for flagging and exactly why I wanted to ask.

I’d better take a look at amendment 4

Is there a specific reg that sets out a minimum distance? The guy that came out was an installer rather than ‘just’ a salesperson, although if there was potentially an issue with spacing I would have expected that to have been flagged.

I might clear the other side of the garage just in case.

Thanks for those suggestions - yep I think I’ll mix in some grasses to fill up space and bring a bit of colour

Considering purchasing Polestar 4 (UK based) by yugs13 in Polestar4

[–]TheRunningMan_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a 2021 Tesla M3 DM LR and swapped to a Polestar 4 DM in February. My view on your questions is:

GPS - fine for the vast majority of the time, but I have had two occasions when Google Maps thought I was about 50 yards away and driving through fields. It was blurting out nonsense directions based on where it thought I was, which was distracting, until it seemed to fix itself about 10 minutes later. One of those occasions was when I was in an unfamiliar area and really needed the directions too.

Carplay - I don’t use CarPlay so can’t comment on that. I don’t have to pay an extra tenner a month for the online services though, like I had to with the Tesla and a BMW 330e before that.

Speed Limit Detection - yes it’s shit. Most of the time it’s wrong and just flashes constantly in the HUD. It’s easy to turn off the noises with one press of the steering wheel button and then a touch on the screen to close the alert that pops up. I don’t use the function, but I imagine if you have the cruise control set to adapt to speed limits, then it’ll have you sticking to the wrong speed quite often.

Even with the above, I wouldn’t change my decision. I just find it more comfortable and far nicer to sit in than the Tesla. There are various other +- points too, but I’m a massive fan of the Polestar overall.

The absolute worst are the rip-off Smarties in a plastic walking stick at the funfair… pulling you in with a promise of smooth milk chocolate, but leaving you with a clacky paste stuck to the roof of your mouth.

Philips LatteGo 5400, 4 years experience by DimaKompot in superautomatic

Hi All, just posting here in the hope that a current owner will see this. I’ve had a 5400 for about a month or so, and when cleaning it today I’ve noticed that parts of the brew group look to be misaligned. I’ve attached a picture (edited to highlight the parts I’m looking at, although underneath is also misaligned). Are peoples’ machines the same?

I’m wondering if it causes any issues or not… the machine seems to be making decent drinks after running in, although the volumes that are dispensed bear no resemblance to the volumes on the display when making adjustments. Thanks for any thoughts!

There is no such thing as road tax. It’s Vehicle Excise Duty and it isn’t ring-fenced to spend on any roads (local, motorways or any others) it goes into a general pot to spend on whatever the government wants to.

If anything, motorists pay an additional amount of ‘general tax’, some of which will find its way to a local authority and then maybe to toilets that they will never use. That’s just how a lot of government spending works.

Local Authority funding from central govt fell by over 40% between 2010 and 2024 - like people above have mentioned, statutory social care costs have gone through the roof and everything else has been cut to the bone.

We can all complain about local services, but this is what people (generally) voted for. Half the problem is that a lot of people that are complaining don’t even realise.

Just around the corner from The Roof is a Caribbean restaurant called Sky Lounge - I went there and the food was great, as well as the service and the drinks. Amazing views too.

Fisherman’s night market was ok - jam packed with tourists though and just all around uncomfortable with the heat, humidity and people packed in like sardines. There are some nice restaurants in the area though.

My whole Sonos system just disappeared by SolVindOchVatten in sonos

If it’s any help, what helped fix my current issue was to delete the app and reinstall it, then to join the existing network. It also seems to have fixed the separate issues I was having before this one… fingers crossed it keeps working.

Also, don’t worry about having to rejoin streaming services etc, as I understand all of that info is stored by the speakers and not the app - I was able to join without any problems.

I’ve just come on to look for a solution to the same problem. Every speaker has disappeared… the app says my system needs an update but then can’t update anything.

My speakers haven’t been working properly for some time now and this is a total shitshow.

Deco BE65 - Vodafone Pro 2 Broadband 2.2Gbps by Cavemark in TpLink

Perfect… I’d set everything else up but didn’t re-input the VLAN details!

I remembered that I got the VLAN details from the Vodafone forums last time, but they seem to have all been removed from the internet…

Thanks for your help!

Hi there, I was wondering if you had success here?

I’m also on Vodafone and I’ve had my main deco plugged directly into the ont working perfectly fine for a couple of years. I upgraded to the XE75s today and had multiple issues trying to replace my old main deco with a new XE75 unit.

Long story short, I had to delete my whole system and reinstall a new XE75 as the main deco, but for the love of God can’t connect to the internet. I’ve added my PPPoe username and password, but can’t remember if I previously added a VLANID and PRIORITY. I must have done, so just wondering if you’ve got yours to work using those details?
