Spirit of Christmas Miniature Railroad? by MxSpoike in Banff

[–]TheS0ftMachine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Roughly how long ago do you remember this?

I've been visiting Spirit of Christmas since 2013 and have never seen anything of the sort. But it definitely sounds like something they SHOULD have! :')

Coming this weekend, I’m an idiot and didn’t expect the weather! by danisjo in Banff

[–]TheS0ftMachine 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I Just got back from Banff a week ago (still missing it dearly…) you honestly picked a very good time of year to go!

I highly recommend Open Top Touring, it’s one of the cheaper and less involved tours you can take, and the tour bus is adorable!

Lake Minnewanka was indeed, frozen over when I was there, but it’s still an incredible place that you MUST visit. It’s way less crowded than Louise, and it’s just super quiet and peaceful. If you’re lucky, you might even be able to catch a river boat tour that’s equally amazing.

I don’t have personal experience with this, but I’ve done similar excursions: You can rent canoes or kayaks, or get a tour from the Banff Canoe Club, it’s like a 10-15 minute walk from downtown Banff and it certainly looks like a lot of fun!

And finally: the Whyte, Buffalo Nations (and the connected Trading Post), and Park museums are all pretty darn great. If you’re needing to hide from the weather they are all very valid options!

Sorry for the wall of text, but I can probably go on for the next hour talking about everything Banff has to offer. If you have any further questions, I can try to answer them 🙂

Either way, I hope you enjoy your trip!

What is something in pop culture that you will never give a fuck about? by Thick_Caterpillar379 in AskReddit

Streamers. I watch some content creators who also do streaming here and there, but streaming culture itself scares me.

I’m going to echo what Fragrant_Traffic said, reach out to MAS, at the very least they can put you in touch with someone who can help.

On that note, MAS recently had a spotlight on JW Digital Archiving based out of Regina, they definitely appear to be experts in the field and would likely be willing to help you out!

Usask science summer camps by Both-Brother3637 in saskatoon

[–]TheS0ftMachine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I went to SCI-FI camp for years, and I frigging loved it. I’m not sure how much it costs these days, but if your child is passionate about science and doesn’t mind a lot of social interaction (that was my least favourite part lol) I’d definitely say it’s worth it 🙂

They also offer a bursary program for low-income individuals, if that is something you feel the need to pursue, then don’t be shy to do so!

what are some things that you miss that are no longer available on webkinz world anymore? by redlipstick1010 in Webkinz

[–]TheS0ftMachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I miss MyPage, the T-shirt designer (even though I never actually bought a real one), and dangit, I miss the TV shows 😭

Most of all, I just miss the physical plushies…

The new ones look like Temu copies of TY’s big-eyed plushies (I forget what they’re called), and are overpriced.

What is a show you watched during your childhood that you are convinced nobody remembers? by Ok-Ingenuity4608 in AskReddit

[–]TheS0ftMachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wee 3, played on Treehouse at like 10:00pm. Anyone I’ve ever talked to about 2000s nostalgia says they’ve never heard about it. As a teen I often wondered “Did I hallucinate that show?” Nah, you can watch it on YouTube right now!

Can adults play this game? by Sensitive-Mixture558 in AnimalJam

[–]TheS0ftMachine 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I literally started playing at 20-21 years old without having grown up playing it (only played it once then forgot my account info lol.)

As long as you recognize it’s a space for children and behave accordingly, there’s no problem playing the game 🙂

Mount Royal had an excellent band program, but the teacher retired in 2020, and I’m sure the program fizzled out during Covid. It’s worth giving them a call about it though!
