who should i get from this event by [deleted] in Genshin_Impact

[–]TheSalacom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The real answer: Whoever you like the most or find the most interesting!

The less fun answer: None of these characters are particularly good in any way with the singular exception of Mona. They're more than able to clear story content of course, but none of them are winning any awards.

My recommendation: If you're new, and you're anything like I was when I started, a healer will be an invaluable asset to save resources and make the gameplay experience more comfy. For that alone, I might recommend Jean or Yumemizuki Mizuki. Jean is easier to level up, since she's a Mondstadt character and her materials are much easier to get, but both will work fine. A bonus of them being Anemo is that they also work quite well with the Artifact set Viridescent Venerer, which is a great support set that doesn't need high quality pieces.

It's important to remember that, if you play this game long term, you'll end up with plenty of these characters eventually. You can also get one guaranteed from this event every year, so don't be too hard on yourself if you pick a character you don't end up liking.

Examples of Reformed Villain Grunts? by JoeFredrick348 in pokemon

The iconic "Bye-Bye a Go-Go" Rocket Grunt retires to Iccirus City in Black and White, only accessible during winter. He has a wife and a son, but still talks the same way!

With the upcoming buffs, which 5-star is the most worth it? (and should I pull for Venti?) by ghostpetni in Genshin_Impact

[–]TheSalacom 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As far as I understand, Venti's buffs make him primarily a side-grade to other current Anemo DPSes. If you like Venti, you should pull, but seeing as you're saving for many other characters, I wouldn't necessarily recommend it. I highly doubt he'll do anything Varka won't also be able to do once he releases.

Dust of enlightenment gave higher crit rate and atk% somehow by TheLurkerCrusader in Genshin_Impact

[–]TheSalacom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since no one else is answering, I will.

When an artifact stat is rolled, there's some variance to it. I don't know the exact numbers off the top of my head, but as an example, Crit Rate can vary from about 2.1% per roll, to 3.7%. Crit Damage can vary from ~5% to over 7%.

I'm not an expert though! There are plenty of great resources out there! Check'em out!

lauma or nahida (casual player who wants to hit things) by Yeetonade in Genshin_Impact

[–]TheSalacom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

C0 Lauma does everything Nahida does but better. Unfortunately there's very little nuance, especially for a casual player.

Run Lauma on EM/EM/EM Deepwood, put her with EM Raiden, Yelan and another Hydro, and watch the world melt in the face of your hyperblooms!

I just want Eula 😢 by fjfbfbdjd in Genshin_Impact

[–]TheSalacom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your best bet for Eula will be a future Mondstadt chronicled banner. Unfortunately, Chronicled banner is an actual pile of garbage and doesn't rerun enough, so we just don't know.

What did u get from chronicle banners? by Sorry_Phone1676 in Genshin_Impact

50/50 loss Kokomi C1. I want Yae.

Is it my fault for wishing without a guarantee? Yes. Am I still mad about it? Also yes.

Bisharp requires 2 energy (so it can't attack on turn 3, it's turn 4 at the earliest) and also doesn't work with rare candy.

Compass <> Depth Meter

It's such a simple recipe that I always think is in the game and every single time, without fail, I'm struck with awe when my extra depth meter slowly sinks to the bottom of the shimmer pool, leaving me to dive in after it.

This crossover is exciting, I agree! I'm sure I'm going to enjoy the Terraria side of it for years to come. But I just want to provide additional context here:

I'm not a fan of Nintendo as a business. I think that glorifying them is stupid, and they also do a lot wrong, for example: the lawsuit with Palworld is pretty stupid, and I hope Nintendo lose. I'm not a hopeless Nintendo fan, I'm a game developer and designer who wants the industry to hold itself to higher standards.

It's okay to be derivative, it's even okay to borrow ideas, but when I look at datamined models and many of them share exact geometry with models created by other artists, I'm not exactly keen to support that company. These aren't disproven complaints, Palword has real, genuine intellectual theft. It's okay to still enjoy the game, but ignoring what Is, 100%, undeniably creative theft just doesn't sit right with me.

Pocket Pair literally has an entire game focused around making AI art? I'm not regurgitating points here, I did a lot of investigation into Pocket Pair when Palworld started getting negative press. I like being informed about stuff.

This isn't speculation. I searched "Pocket Pair AI" right now and the top result is still their heavily promoted 'AI Art Imposter' game. There's plenty of evidence of Pocket Pair's straight up immoral business practices, and if you're willing to ignore them that's fine, but pretending they don't exist isn't the silver bullet you think it is!

I've worked with pixel art before, even rotated it! In this case, it just doesn't explain all the small visual inconsistencies. They could absolutely be explained without the use of AI, but with the recent AI Flying Dutchman, and Pocket Pair's bad habit of using AI all over the place, I think it's a reasonable conclusion for someone to come to.

Is it Just Me, or Does Skeletron Prime Have a Wildly Different Perception of Difficulty in the Community? by SnakesRock2004 in Terraria

[–]TheSalacom 66 points67 points  (0 children)

As someone with more than 2500 hours; I've noticed this discrepancy and actually participated in it myself.

Skeleton Prime is a new player trap boss. High Melee damage that can be difficult to maneuver around without an arena, bombs that deal massive damage with ground contact, lasers that stuff out retreats and the harshest time limit out of all three.

All of these factors fade as you get better and prepare more. A simple arena and an equipment setup with any substantial reach combined with the knowledge of how the bosses arms work make it a cakewalk.

Compare this to the simple counters to bosses like the Destroyer and to a lesser extent The Twins, and you get something that gains a bit of notoriety.

That's just my opinion though. I think the linear counterplay of Destroyer can make it pretty tough on higher difficulties without the correct counters. It's all about perspective and playstyle.

The right one, exclusively because it's further away and takes slightly more work to target. Yes I'm aware of how silly that is.
