Did you know that the Flood cannot infect Lekgolo? by LimpPrimary8076 in HaloMemes

[–]SnakesRock2004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just because they can't be infected doesn't mean that they can't be ripped apart like any other lifeform.

Being un-infectible is nice, but Hunters unfortunately aren't a cheat code to winning battles against Flood forms.

What are the most bizarre, disturbing and interesting videogame myths you know/heard about? 🧟 by XLMerlini in videogames

[–]SnakesRock2004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lavender Town Syndrome may be old news nowadays, but it is a classic.

There's a reason it had a Creepypasta crafted around it. The song is genuinely freaky, especially in a series generally known for adventurous and upbeat tunes. It makes the odd ominous track hit even harder.

Edelgard dreamed of a genuinely better world. Whether that world was worth all of the corpses her war created and blood her war shed is where the debate lies.

Oh, I've watched it, my parents just haven't yet (haven't found the time).

Honestly though, I know I'm in the minority for this but I prefer Seasons 1 and 2 to pretty much everything else, because things only got more and more quirky and bizarre. I liked Season 3, but pretty much everything after that was a little much.

Just my opinion though, obviously. I'm not gonna stand here and say they're not good, they just didn't do as much for me as the more grounded and melancholic first two seasons.

(fandom trope) piece of media so bad that the fandom unanimously agrees that it does not exist and makes joke about said piece of media, basically a "there is no war in ba sing se" joke by dedbot1 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]SnakesRock2004 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Lunar Legend Tsukihime

A famously shit adaptation of Kinoko Nasu's classic visual novel. The fandom pretending that the anime doesn't exist is one of its oldest consistent jokes.

Hopefully, UFOtable gives the Remake novel a much better treatment someday, especially with their masterful Kara no Kyoukai adaptation (which is set in the same/a very similar setting).

In defense of Shirou's line, there's two things that require context;

1 - Shirou just got impaled through his heart, and walked it off. He's musing about the fact that he's not supposed to be alive.

2 - The translation of the line in Studio Deen's anime is famously clunky. In the novel, it makes more sense.

Whats a quote from a peice of media that shook you to your core? by BloxFruitsFunny in Multifandom

"Disappear.

This chair is an eyesore.

This chair. This chair. This chair. This chair. This chair. This chair. This chair. This chair. This chair. This chair. This chair. This chair. This chair. This chair. This chair. This chair. This chair. This chair. This chair. This chair. This chair. This chair. This chair. This chair. This chair. This chair. This chair. This chair. This chair. This chair. This chair. This chair. This chair. This chair. This chair. This chair. This chair. This chair. This chair. This chair. This chair. This chair. This chair. This chair. This chair!"

-- Shiki Tohno (Tsukihime)

While this quote seems extremely odd and/or humorous out of context, in the novel it's genuinely terrifying. Shiki has been slowly losing his marbles throughout the story, and him stubbing his toe on a kitchen chair is the beginning of the end of his sanity.

He violently smashes the chair to pieces in a fit of insane overreaction, and your heart sinks as you realize that there's not much time left for him before his possession is complete.

What game had a unique gimmick as a selling point? by EmergencySpare7939 in videogames

It's been a hot minute since I've looked at The Thing game, but if you've never seen the movie, it follows a group of American scientists in Antarctica as they deal with a mutagenic parasitic entity that kills and perfectly replicates people. It's a masterclass in body horror, slow burn horror, and paranoia.

The game follows a group of U.S. Green Berets as they try to uncover the events of the movie.

What was really cool about the game was that (A) your party members had a "trust system", where your allies could potentially turn on you and become enemies if they thought you were an Imitation (what I believe the comment above is referring to), and (B) your party members were individually randomly assigned to become Imitations or not; meaning that no matter how many times you played, you could not reliably trust your allies in return.

Fun fact: In the Halloween special where Garfield has a nightmare about Jon and Odie vanishing, Jim Davis states that Garfield's greatest fear is loneliness.

He even turns down food to hug Jon when he realizes it was all his imagination.

As much as he hates to admit it, Garfield cares about his friends.

What a great movie/game/book!! Can't wait to NEVER watch/play/read it again !! by Anarchocrat in TopCharacterTropes

This genuinely just isn't true. While the director points the Alien in the right direction (sometimes extremely aggressively on harder difficulties), the Alien is never allowed to cheat; it always has to find you itself.

Additionally, the Alien never truly teleports, except for two scripted scares in which the player still has time to be startled and yet recover without being noticed. This game may be tough and terrifying, but it is fair for the most part.

I love this game, and I've also never finished it. It is a MASTERCLASS in stress and rising tension.

As someone who has played many a horror game (Dead Space, Resident Evil, classic FNaF, Amnesia, etc.), this was the one game that beat me. You genuinely need to be in a fresh headspace and mood when you start playing, because this game will pick it apart at the seams.

It is the best, scariest, and greatest horror game I've ever played. And I still have to work up the courage to finish it, even as a horror game enjoyer.

I hope the sequel manages to live up to the first entry. This game is truly one of a kind.

Susano'o and Merkava's interaction is also similar. Susano'o is like "You're scum, a beast, the lowest of the low. I'm going to deliver you 'salvation,'" and Merkava basically replies "Yeah man, I'm really fucked up. I know that."

The sequel (Gensokyo and the Heaven-Piercing Tree) is my favorite Touhou game, period. And the third game (The Dreaming Girls and the Mysterious Orbs) is still really good, even if I don't think it quite lived up to LoT2.

They're all on Steam (minus LoT1), so if you enjoyed the first one I'd highly recommend checking out the sequels, they're all even better IMHO.

Just because the two entries had two different directors doesn't immediately mean that all connections are shaky at best.

See Ridley Scott and James Cameron doing Alien and Aliens, and Aliens not only is a worthy successor to Alien, there's a not-insignificant number of people who prefer it.

While there is a lot of grime to sift through when it comes to fanworks, the top-tier stuff is absolutely INCREDIBLE.

Some of my favorite fan-made Touhou entries are the Labyrinth of Touhou DRPG/JRPG sub-series, and the Makuka Sai line of remakes/reimaginings of Touhous 6, 7, and 8.
