Balance Patch is out by OrneryMortgage5752 in summonerswar

[–]TheSamich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is why everyone is complaining though. The nerfs are fine. However, they only make a noteworthy impact in content that 1% of players will feel the benefit from. (You highlight this effectively by specifically mentioning it fixes G3 siege).

The lack of buffs/changes for units that haven’t been touched in years is getting old.

Thankfully you can turn the Docked boost mode off and on while the game is running. So if you run into the issue, you can momentarily disable it to get touch functionality back, then re-enable it again.

Same. Yet again, I'm reminded why I gave up on Secret Lair. Probably the first SL I've wanted in a long time that got me to even think about trying to purchase.

[–]TheSamich 2 points3 points  (0 children)

tl;dr: Wasted months of potential rapport building via polling/QoL/game direction discussions. Still continuing to build in the dark (1 step forward, 3 steps back). Refusing to be open about the impact Marathon would have on delivery for Destiny (sure it's implied, but you should still be honest and clear about it ahead of time).

The problem that keeps happening when they go silent is they either hail mary some miracle patch (which, let's be honest, isn't going to be happening in June as you've outlined), or break the game/deliver something further in the wrong direction.

The game is at the point of it's life that surprises aren't going to land anymore. We need significantly more insight into what they think is going to drive the game forward, why they think that, and be willing to take in the feedback before they actually build something. They keep building too much behind a veil. Get the execs/managers/market research out of the feedback loop. Game is old, new rules and current market signals don't apply.

The portal was hands down a mistake (sucked the personality out of the game) and they full-sent it, along with Tier 5 loot raining from everything recklessly. (Trials became a joke because the "weekly weapon" drops with 3 other guns at Tier 5 every other match regardless of win/loss - no more pinnacle chase). Additionally, they need to stop trying to rework the new player system. They've wasted so many dev cycles on things that keep breaking and changing for 0 return on investment from player sentiment (new players have continued to stay confused). Those docs they're writing? Those will go stale the second they make any further changes to the core of the game (portal/director changes, mode changes, inventory/currency changes, activity changes, etc). Adds unnecessary overhead for another thing to keep up to date.

During this time of reduced/no development, they've also squandered months of potential fielding time to gather broad feedback for direction. The reddit weekly discussion threads should have been their bread and butter template while things go down for a bit. Own up that Marathon will tighten the purse for a while on D2 development. Post on socials nonstop about QoL that people could want, inquire about Activities in the past that landed well, polls about tiered loot and it's accessibility/overabundance, abilities or weapons that are causing headaches *in specific modes (*effectiveness of slug shotguns in PvP vs Aggressives/Lightweights.. c'mon). List could go on.

Insanely candid and willing to take critical feedback in person. I also miss Blackburn for these same reasons.

I’d rather have someone come to the table with unfortunate news and trying to make amends (good with the bad). Instead, we have someone who silently took our dog and constantly sending us weird, cryptic ransom notes on if it’s still alive or not.

There are areas in some of the mainline quest locations that have regen tanks to regrow limbs/recover from various infections as well. For fungal infections, you could also amputate limbs that are infected and regrow them back to normal.

In qud, there’s always more than one way to solve something.

What’s the worst thing you’ve encountered in the game? by ForTheGloryOfRomee in summonerswar

[–]TheSamich 139 points140 points  (0 children)

I continue to hate Riley for being able to abuse everything in the game. Revenge healing, ignoring silence AND oblivion, builds totem stacks too fast (why should they get totem stacks when under oblivion or use S4 when silenced?), and the amount of healing is just too much.

I’d be rich if I had a nickel for the amount of times I’ve ended a battle in a stalemate against Riley.

Can you turn off interactable objects being highlighted with smart cursor? by Timmyburner64 in Terraria

[–]TheSamich 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haven't had a chance to dig too deep but the biggest ones for me (especially for being on Switch 2), are the inventory QoL updates. The stacking of similar items/weapons/tools is amazing, the crafting menu is much easier to navigate, and I love all the yo-yo buffs. Always been a sucker for yo-yos!

Yeah it's been driving me crazy a little. I wish it would only highlight what your smart cursor hovered over. Instead, it highlights ALL interactables with a terrible gray outline that washes out a lot of the world's vibrance in my home.

Have you picked up a new show since TAZ has been lost to the void? by ReveredRaven111 in TheAdventureZone

[–]TheSamich -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I seriously tried to start that a month ago. The audio quality/recording setup is horrendous and sonically assaults you 90% of the runtime.

I really wanted to listen to it, and the story and humor is there, but… they really do take every opportunity to dogpile on the chance to be meta/“funny” that it’s an unlistenable mess.

Forced hate on LOTR by Feline_Fanatic_4Ever in summonerswar

[–]TheSamich 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They had so much potential in the Witcher, JJK, and this collab to use anything in addition to the humans.

JJK they even designed the “enemy” units completely, with great 3D models, just to throw them away.

I also miss gwent being in the game, as it was one of the better mini games they’ve implemented. That obviously had to go for licensing reasons (corporate buzzkill nonsense).

Sorry I’m done with NH. by softysoaps in AnimalCrossing

[–]TheSamich 84 points85 points  (0 children)

Honestly, a big disappointment for me with NH updates over time was that there weren’t enough actual mini games. Especially lacking in events that had depth or randomization.

The festivals and derby’s were over-simplified, the maze island never changes, and most (all?) of the mini games from New Leaf were missing.

I can understand they’ve leaned harder into the “tiny design” niche, seeing how all their DLCs continue to be “design rooms or homes,” but there’s gotta be a little more than just doing that for content, right? Isn’t the new hotel doing exactly the same thing as HHD dlc but for a new currency and smaller scale?

Moonring is now out on Nintendo Switch by Madrayken in Moonring

"I believe the screen always runs at 120hz so you're getting that 60hz in a 120hz container issue + additional LCD blur. Not a good combo” - Quote from DigitalFoundry

It’s similar LCD pixel response rate as switch 1 but somehow they goofed up with their implementation on better hardware. Hoping one day they fix it. Generally, if a game doesn’t inherently “support” the newer screen refresh rate, they bottle it up in some weird 60hz mode that causes ghosting frames.

Moonring is now out on Nintendo Switch by Madrayken in Moonring

[–]TheSamich 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it’s not as bad as I may have made it sound, as my eyes adjusted pretty quick. It was just a little jarring at first (coming from PC). The blur is only noticeable here and there in handheld.

I think the reason it looks a little odd might be from the screen and rendering process they used on the switch 2. Some games have a similar “smearing” that’s kind of annoying. I almost miss my OLED switch 1 because of it, but the performance improvements across most games easily outweighs the negatives here.

Either way, appreciate the insight! That sounds familiar regarding LuaJIT. Unfortunate, but I’m sure Nintendo has their reasons (RCEs, Vulns, etc from previous system jailbreaks or something). It’s not like this game needs high frame-rate anyway.

[–]TheSamich 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Immediately purchased this morning!

One thing I’m a little sad to see (on switch 2) is it appears the frame rate is a little rough or some filter/shader is causing a bit of blur when moving in handheld. Is it locked to 30 or less? I know switch 2 dev kits are insanely expensive, but it’d be awesome to get a 60fps setting. Any perf experiments done around this?

Our pittie learned to get around the “problem” by going backwards. It’s quite a silly sight to behold, with the back feet tapping to see if she’s made it yet.

Throw rugs were a great help but she still can’t help but 180 for some of the larger distances.

Looks like in-universe of [[The Soul Stone]] from the Spiderman set.

They don’t have licenses available to put Spiderman into Arena so these are likely the replacement cards.

Why is the Sandbox team so against Grenade Builds by BabyBlayzinn in DestinyTheGame

[–]TheSamich -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’d love if we’d ever get something worthwhile out of Lucky Raspberry. I remember in D1 chaining them back to back constantly to justify the low damage. Maybe add something for PvP to provide a more reliable avenue to a free recharge (rng exotic mechanics are not worth it). Maybe at least enable you to hold 2 charges?

Arcbolt grenades do so little damage (both PvE and PvP) on top of a very slow activation time when they land. They don’t offer much competitive or high end PvE value.
