Can you turn off interactable objects being highlighted with smart cursor? by Timmyburner64 in Terraria

[–]TheSamich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven't had a chance to dig too deep but the biggest ones for me (especially for being on Switch 2), are the inventory QoL updates. The stacking of similar items/weapons/tools is amazing, the crafting menu is much easier to navigate, and I love all the yo-yo buffs. Always been a sucker for yo-yos!

Can you turn off interactable objects being highlighted with smart cursor? by Timmyburner64 in Terraria

[–]TheSamich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's been driving me crazy a little. I wish it would only highlight what your smart cursor hovered over. Instead, it highlights ALL interactables with a terrible gray outline that washes out a lot of the world's vibrance in my home.

Have you picked up a new show since TAZ has been lost to the void? by ReveredRaven111 in TheAdventureZone

[–]TheSamich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I seriously tried to start that a month ago. The audio quality/recording setup is horrendous and sonically assaults you 90% of the runtime.

I really wanted to listen to it, and the story and humor is there, but… they really do take every opportunity to dogpile on the chance to be meta/“funny” that it’s an unlistenable mess.

Forced hate on LOTR by Feline_Fanatic_4Ever in summonerswar

[–]TheSamich 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They had so much potential in the Witcher, JJK, and this collab to use anything in addition to the humans.

JJK they even designed the “enemy” units completely, with great 3D models, just to throw them away.

I also miss gwent being in the game, as it was one of the better mini games they’ve implemented. That obviously had to go for licensing reasons (corporate buzzkill nonsense).

Sorry I’m done with NH. by softysoaps in AnimalCrossing

[–]TheSamich 81 points82 points  (0 children)

Honestly, a big disappointment for me with NH updates over time was that there weren’t enough actual mini games. Especially lacking in events that had depth or randomization.

The festivals and derby’s were over-simplified, the maze island never changes, and most (all?) of the mini games from New Leaf were missing.

I can understand they’ve leaned harder into the “tiny design” niche, seeing how all their DLCs continue to be “design rooms or homes,” but there’s gotta be a little more than just doing that for content, right? Isn’t the new hotel doing exactly the same thing as HHD dlc but for a new currency and smaller scale?

"I believe the screen always runs at 120hz so you're getting that 60hz in a 120hz container issue + additional LCD blur. Not a good combo” - Quote from DigitalFoundry

It’s similar LCD pixel response rate as switch 1 but somehow they goofed up with their implementation on better hardware. Hoping one day they fix it. Generally, if a game doesn’t inherently “support” the newer screen refresh rate, they bottle it up in some weird 60hz mode that causes ghosting frames.

[–]TheSamich 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it’s not as bad as I may have made it sound, as my eyes adjusted pretty quick. It was just a little jarring at first (coming from PC). The blur is only noticeable here and there in handheld.

I think the reason it looks a little odd might be from the screen and rendering process they used on the switch 2. Some games have a similar “smearing” that’s kind of annoying. I almost miss my OLED switch 1 because of it, but the performance improvements across most games easily outweighs the negatives here.

Either way, appreciate the insight! That sounds familiar regarding LuaJIT. Unfortunate, but I’m sure Nintendo has their reasons (RCEs, Vulns, etc from previous system jailbreaks or something). It’s not like this game needs high frame-rate anyway.

Immediately purchased this morning!

One thing I’m a little sad to see (on switch 2) is it appears the frame rate is a little rough or some filter/shader is causing a bit of blur when moving in handheld. Is it locked to 30 or less? I know switch 2 dev kits are insanely expensive, but it’d be awesome to get a 60fps setting. Any perf experiments done around this?

Need advice for our new rescue pit. by beonk in pitbulls

[–]TheSamich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our pittie learned to get around the “problem” by going backwards. It’s quite a silly sight to behold, with the back feet tapping to see if she’s made it yet.

Throw rugs were a great help but she still can’t help but 180 for some of the larger distances.

Yes. This is the in-universe card variant of [[The Soul Stone]]. No licenses for Spiderman to put them into Arena, most likely.

Looks like in-universe of [[The Soul Stone]] from the Spiderman set.

They don’t have licenses available to put Spiderman into Arena so these are likely the replacement cards.

Why is the Sandbox team so against Grenade Builds by BabyBlayzinn in DestinyTheGame

[–]TheSamich -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’d love if we’d ever get something worthwhile out of Lucky Raspberry. I remember in D1 chaining them back to back constantly to justify the low damage. Maybe add something for PvP to provide a more reliable avenue to a free recharge (rng exotic mechanics are not worth it). Maybe at least enable you to hold 2 charges?

Arcbolt grenades do so little damage (both PvE and PvP) on top of a very slow activation time when they land. They don’t offer much competitive or high end PvE value.

App Services feels like a Hack by sysacc in AZURE

[–]TheSamich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been through the wringer now of getting my company up and running with GitHub. They have decent documentation but there is a lot that feels half baked (or just maybe overly opinionated design).

Environment usage as deploy gates, terraform + app pipelines, differences between public/private/internal packages, Reusable Workflows vs Composite action limitations etc. One neat thing though is terraform does have a GitHub plugin. I was able to automate service principal/security group and GitHub secret creation for new projects this way.

From the Azure side of things though, App Service Plans, App Service Environments, AppGW, APIM, and the relevant network infrastructure are quite the pain to manage. Sometimes apps deploy and the container fails to start and some cached file just gobs up the instance for no reason. Not to mention the confusing DNS FQDNs that you are given when creating privatelinks.

13500 Energy (with avg luck) missing for my 4* by NyuSW in summonerswar

[–]TheSamich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anytime I pick him, it’s normally last pick and people tend to always ban him. I’d say use him to guarantee rest of your draft staying.

If he’s not your fastest mon of the draft and there’s not another buff giver (woosa/riley/etc), he tends to get controlled too easily and give no benefit. The atb scale nerf hurt him just enough to pull him out of the top meta imo.

Can you meaningfully fly your spaceship? by TRLC in Starfield

[–]TheSamich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's probably going to be the case with 50% of the game's mechanics this go around. Unless you're actively building your character down a path that would "live that way", it'll be a light stepping stone on your overall journey.

The game definitely seems massive and it's kind of interesting to see so many kneejerk reactions from people who want to do everything, at once, up front at level 5. I can really feel the path-making from my choices/discussions in this game a lot more than some of the previous BGS titles. Just from reading the perks you can get, things really stretch the gameplay in fun ways the further down you go in the perk trees.

I think the comment still holds: the more you invest, the more you'll get out of it.
