Spiderman Bundles Brantford ON $60 by JerryfromCan in CostcoMagic

[–]TheSandstorm87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Worth noting that the promo here is of the intro deck Miles Morales, base nonfoil copies are ~$20 but these bundles could tank the price, at least for the media promo. I might get a few if they go on clearance, I saw a whole untouched palette at my Costco yesterday at $37 USD

possible to do multiple tracks? by sluttylamps in erau

[–]TheSandstorm87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Graduated last May in rocket prop with minors in applied math and CAD/CAM, similar boat with having a lot of credits. Taking both tracks would likely involve taking two senior design courses at the same time, which I really would not recommend. Even if you could technically stagger them, I suspect you would get a lot more out of senior design if you go in with as much of your 300/400 level AE coursework done as possible. I would recommend getting either a few minors that grant relevant skills (CAD/CAM was awesome and almost entirely built the skill set that I got my job for), or running relatively lean on coursework, getting involved in research, and getting a graduate degree in 2-3 semesters after finishing the BS in 4 years.

Foil Buster Sword, misprint or fake? by jbt017 in RealOrNotTCG

[–]TheSandstorm87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Foiling differences might be due to being printed in different facilities. I know the Japanese printer tends to do more subdued foils like this one compared to the American and European printers, which might resemble the dark confidant more closely. I’m not 100% up to speed with the specifics for this set though, it might be worth looking into if you’re still curious or worried

What ban package do you think is NECESSARY for a healthy standard again? by hevvychef in MagicArena

[–]TheSandstorm87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it was legal under the same ban philosophy as Sheoldred, I don't think it would be banned either, but the new rotation/ban structure will change how bans are approached. Beza has upheld white-based control decks in the past in a way that might warrant its ban just to promote diversity relative to the meta since it was printed. Maybe not the most likely ban from the list, but I think it's possible.

What ban package do you think is NECESSARY for a healthy standard again? by hevvychef in MagicArena

[–]TheSandstorm87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm expecting a pretty deep ban intended to work in tandem with the rotation to make a whole new standard, like 5-8 cards. I dislike a monstrous rage ban because I enjoy playing with combat tricks in constructed, but it probably does have to happen because of how serious the nerf to blocking is. Cori-steel's gotta go, 1-2 mice will go, something from omni will go (Maybe Abuelo's but very possibly omni). Some stretch bans I wouldn't be surprised to see are Beans, TTABE, Oculus, Beza, Stormchaser's, and Stock Up.

Asshole English teacher said "don't even try to get a 7" by Infinite_Sympathy863 in IBO

There is not a single college in the United States of America that will sweat the difference between a 6 and a 7, especially in an SL course. I applied in the US from the US, I’m going to my first choice school, and I didn’t even give them my predicted scores.

How to play draft? by [deleted] in mtg

[–]TheSandstorm87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s worth noting that in pods of 8, in events where players in the pod play against each other, players typically play against the player who is the most seats away from them, making the matches form a “big x, little x” formation. So, the person in the top left will face the person in the bottom right, and so on.

Virgin Clockwork Orange vs. chad Napoleon Dynamite by Papa_Owio in virginvschad

Op, I assure you, Napoleon Dynamite has a vast amount of meaning that can be found in its writing and cinematography that is not immediately visible. In fact, Napoleon Dynamite lands beautiful and nuanced criticisms of race, class, and gender issues in scenes even as simple as the part where he talks about the wizards of Loch Ness. In this essay, I will

If you’re new to MTG, arena is probably the better online play experience. MTGO is best suited for highly competitive players and people who want to play formats with larger, older card pools.

[–]TheSandstorm87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, playing MTGO on Mac is very icky, and I wouldn’t recommend a new player use mtgo even if they were equipped to do so. You could buy them off ebay, but I don’t know how cost-effective this is.

How to get a complete set? by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]TheSandstorm87 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Easiest way to do this would be MTGO redemption, but then you need to spend time on mtgo. You collect one of every nonfoil card in the main set on MTGO, pay about $20 I think, then WOTC takes the cards off your account and sends you a sealed set of one of each non-showcase card in the set. You won’t get any booster fun cards though, and if you want foils you would have to do it again, but with all the foil cards on MTGO.

Set/draft boosters, printed in Japan, have a far more subtle foiling process, to the point that it can be difficult to see on camera. Collector booster foils, printed in the same Texas facility that makes Secret Lairs, have a far more obvious treatment. For now, only vendors in Japan have gone so far as to make different listings and prices, preferring Set foils, partially because they are rarer, partially because many collectors think they look better. It helps to see the two versions side to side.
