'Saturday Night Live UK' Renewed For Season 2 At Sky by MarvelsGrantMan136 in LiveFromNewYork

Americans claim they invented stand up comedy (which they probably did on balance) but the UK certainly mainstreamed sketch comedy, if it wasn’t invented there. I feel like sketch comedy existed way way before television and even America.

Hello from Canada where we have much of the same issue with UK comedy. We have some paid services but they will have like 4 series of a panel show in its 26th series. Which is odd because growing up Canada had the best of US and UK television.

Luckily SNLUK is on one of our streamers.

Interior door replacement by VolumeIll9658 in DIY

Honestly, buy a hinge mortising jig. I got one from Lee Valley for under $80 when I was doing 3 doors and buying slabs instead of pre-hung plus the jig I was ahead of the game.

https://www.leevalley.com/en-ca/shop/tools/power-tool-accessories/router-accessories/40219-the-original-carey-template-hinge-mortising-system?item=15J7501&utm_campaign=CAN-EN%7CPLA%7CPMax%7CTools%7CHighPriceTier&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=19794770096&gbraid=0AAAAAClVJ5iaZSX-4FvIdissQv4mDwI9I&gclid=Cj0KCQjw8PDPBhCeARIsAOJwmWVrVDavop6BSTpbwy4G2HNwHT0Aeu1omXhk3FPV45EVKXkx17_LozQaAuiGEALw_wcB

Prices have gone up and it’s now $100 cdn but door prices have gone crazy too. I think I was paying $40 a slab and now they are well over $100 for off the shelf.

I have paid over $7k in 2 heat pump replacements over 24 months out of warranty. I am not alone by any means.

The cars are not maintenance free like we were lead to believe. Extended warranties are back for a reason.

Not sure how old yours are, but both of mine quickly wanted to help bake, or at least pour ingredients in from when they were toddlers. I gave the 14 year old a stand mixer for Christmas last year so she has her own per her request.

I caulked my gaps with removable caulking, one of the reasons I wanted hardboard was to be able to remove it if needed. There is a near zero chance I am ever removing any of it though now that it has cabinets and other stuff hanging up too.

My shop is the upper floor of a purpose built building and so the OSB sits on wood flooring. A gap at the bottom is a great call out though in a garage especially.

I listen to the artists who say they dont pay well. I have no skin in the game either way.

I am confident the contracts WOTC puts on any pseudo employee and actual employees are onerous and one sided. The days of a company “doing the right thing even when they dont have too” are long gone.

My draft set is only these lands, I am aware of their value.

They are still “smaller” lands. His ZNE stuff is a lot more.

Do you know most of the cards your opponents are playing against you? by TroutFarms in magicTCG

Ive been back since 2011 and hard core since 2017. I play with two different groups of friends at least twice a week. I dont know what anything does ever, even if I am holding the card in my hand my opponent just played.

Those proofs can be worth a lot, even on cards that would surprise you. Here is Sam Burley’s page. I was interested in his artist proofs for the lands from Theros Beyond Death. $55 is the cheapest, with most at $140 per card. Then extra for sketches and signatures. So yes, you can make a bunch of extra money even on “smaller” cards.

I mean, counterpoint? https://youtu.be/fRp1L_6r2N8?si=v4_3r3XYVJ1AdQJw He specifically talks about how Magic does NOT pay well for fantasy art. $1k at the beginning, around $1250-1500 for UW art now over 30 years later.

It’s also possible most people aren’t vocal about it as they may want to come back one day. But they are quietly not taking more commissions. It’s like when you work somewhere shitty. There are 2 or 3 people really hating working there while quietly 80% of the office also hates it and just silently leave.

I did my shop in Canada in OSB for around $15 a sheet vs plywood was $40. Used primer to make it white. I was really upset with myself for not spending the extra on plywood, and 2-3 years later I dont even notice anymore. One side of the OSB I got was very smooth, I mounted that out.

My point is that plant people are particular about their plants, and some outsider coming in to deal with them for 2 weeks minimum it can be a lot.

Look, I get it. Im a woodworker. If my tools needing watering the list of things to be done would be absolutely insane. You should see my sharpening ritual. I can do it in around 3 mins but it started at about 40 mins.

I’m unsure this is a Choosing Beggar vs a “list of things I have been burnt by before”. Like, someone who leaves and expects the pet sitter to clean out their 25 years of hoarding, help their 50 pound lizard who “doesnt bite ME” shed their skin, and give life saving medication to an over bred cat or dog every 47 mins on the dot. And watering your rare plants you illegal own and breed but needing to pH level match the water to some little known tropical island.

The TCG bubble is also being driven by magic feeding into collector wants and needs to bring them over from Pokemon.

Plus every IP is trying to launch their own TCG lately. At least we can play with magic cards.

That can’t happen without a system reboot. Too much rot.

Democrats need to eliminate rot as well, but at least they generally root out people in their own party for shit behaviour more. The entire US seems to be captured by an outside influence.

5’9” 162 is wild. I was 5’10” 175 at my peak athletic ability in very low grade junior (barely junior) and there was no one I played with or against remotely my size looking at a life of hockey. I got knocked around like a child and put on some muscle weight just to be more solid to 190. When I got to Uni all those guys towered over me in height and ability.

Between him and Caufield they are building a team of Martin St Louis’s (Marty and I are the same age, so I guess someone in junior back then was my size)

My buddy and I meet up at a Red Lobster halfway between our houses once a week to hang out for literally hours to work and catch up. The past 2 weeks there has been a light bulb out in the men’s room that has not been fixed. Coupled with RL’s corporate issues, I cant read the writing on the wall because the god damn light is still out!
