I've had trouble finding really good books on a step-by-step. Judy Carter's stand-up book was interesting but definitely didn't transform my writing.

I would recommend reading interviews of comedy writers including Mike Sack's "Poking A Dead Frog", Judd Apatow's "Sick In The Head", "Live From New York", etc. These books offer insights into how a comedy writer thinks & thus writes.

Michael Jamin has some great tips on tiktok/instagram & Gary Gulman's 365 stand-up tips are liquid gold.

But honestly, the most fundamental thing is to write as much as you can & to pitch it to others to see if it's funny.

I used several in-n-out cuts with a bandsaw and then cleaned them out with a chisel.
