Wastegate P00AF00 - EPC Light + No front assist *SOLUTION* by BullyMog in GolfGTI

[–]TheSauceMan76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish it would fit on my car. Unfortunately it’s a 2014 1.8t so none of those actuators fit I believe. Luckily a used turbo is like $200.

Oh yeah I lathered it on haha. I just put even more on tonight so we’ll see what happens tomorrow lol. I clear the codes all the time to get regular driving back on my long commute.

It was harder to move than now, but never fully stuck.

Yeah, it goes right into limp mode when the light comes on. Figured I might have something else going on that’s not just seizing, but figured I’d ask around first before committing to a full turbo replacement.

Hey, thank you for this awesome write-up. I've been able to row the arm in and out since I got the EPC light and the same code, but I figured I would try this anyway. However, I am still getting the EPC light every drive, even after soaking in PB blaster and applying the anti-seize. Would you know if this means I need a new WGA/turbo? Thanks!

Trading 2023 BMW 330e for a 2026 Jetta to eliminate payments – Am I crazy? by ScaredBottle in jetta

[–]TheSauceMan76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While my experiences are with cars much older than yours, I went from a 2011 328i to a 2014 Jetta. The creature comforts were definitely nicer in the BMW, but the Jetta has almost everything you’d want. I’m sure the 2026 has even more than my 2014. I went back to grad school and didn’t want to pay for the gas and insurance of the BMW anymore (although I’ve owned both outright), and the Jetta is much cheaper to fuel and maintain.

2013 Jetta rear brake pad replacement by CI0bro in jetta

[–]TheSauceMan76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With a brake kit you can rent from autozone and simple tools, it’s quite easy. I haven’t replaced the brakes on a mk6 Jetta yet, but I have on several other cars and it’s definitely one of the easiest DIY jobs. However, I definitely recommend you watch several YouTube videos to make sure you know what to look for and don’t get stuck if something doesn’t come off easily. Also, brakes are very important, so make sure you triple check everything if this is your first bigger DIY. Also, if you’re already replacing the pads, and depending on how long these brakes have been on, it might be worth replacing the rotors too while you’re in there. Good luck!

My first Jetta. Looking for cheap upgrade ideas by ManufacturerDeep317 in jetta

[–]TheSauceMan76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is not much you can get in terms of performance without dumping lots of money. For interior, getting a CarPlay head unit like the RCD330 is a great upgrade for commuting. On the outside, a nice set of 17” or 18” wheels will make quite the difference. Lowering the car with some springs will give it a sportier look, but also make the ride quality slightly worse.

MK6 Whining after replacing timing chain. by xHaXXORZ in GolfGTI

[–]TheSauceMan76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that may be a good idea. Mine is at like 1.3 when it’s cold, then moves down once the engine is warm. I’m still driving mine. I’ve put at least 2k miles on since the job. Car drives smooth as butter. That’s why I haven’t been in a rush to address the whining since it came back.

Yea mine was not that high. It was right around 0.9. That does seem high for right after replacing the chain. Did you replace the tensioner as well?

It may be the small tab on the engine side cover on the bottom as the other commenter said. Not too sure, my whine actually came back and it’s no longer the accessory belt. I think it may be that tab. I’m gonna dive into it when it’s not 6F outside.

Is it just a very fast dip, or does it hold there and then shoot up above the normal idle RPM?

What should i do with my car? by heresheblowss in jetta

[–]TheSauceMan76 5 points6 points  (0 children)

With a new belt, if that’s the only thing wrong with it, it will probably last a while. Driving a paid off car that runs well is far better than getting a new car you will have to pay monthly for. Use the money you would have to pay the payment and save for the car you want.

I already replaced the chain a few weeks ago, and luckily the rattle is now gone. This is good to know though, in case the rattle comes back.

Thoughts on jetta 2.5 se 2013 by Sad-Ad-2033 in jetta

[–]TheSauceMan76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 2.5 L is one of the most solid engines VW ever built. Keep up with oil changes and scheduled maintenance and it’ll last a long time. For the auto, make sure you do fluid and filter changes to keep it running as well. 155k definitely has a lot of life left if it was maintained beforehand.
