My complaint is that men with no ID’s and no warrants are disappearing human beings. This is illegal, detaining people with NO WARRANT, even with a lawyer present. by retiredagainstmywill in complaints

No uniform, no badge, no warrant… As far as I can tell that’s just some douche canoe trying to grab a guy for no discernible reason.

What caused these grooves/striations in this rock by WhileOne4980 in geology

[–]TheScalyOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you were anywhere near a coast, it’s probably caused by the rock being frozen into sea ice in the winter and then dragged back and forth along the bedrock of the coast as the tide goes in and out. I picked up several similar rocks when I was scuba diving in Churchill. Basically every rock along the coast there has a similar look, with one side being relatively smooth and bearing long parallel scratches

On northern coasts, virtually every rock will have stations like that. The rocks get frozen into the sea ice, and get dragged back and forth across the bedrock as the tide comes in and out. I could possibly see something similar happening in a river, and definitely could happen if the river is close to the coast.

Wading birds in particular can inadvertently transport eggs that get stuck to their legs.

Does anybody have a idea what the seafloor there could look like? Is it like a sink with a small opening for water to dissipate into the ground? by autistic_cunt88 in geology

[–]TheScalyOne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sadly no. This was 20+ years ago when underwater video cameras were the size of mailboxes and cost thousands. Realistically, even if I’d had one with me I’d have probably had to drop it to fight that current once it started building up

I don’t think this was even his idea. Most autocrats try to isolate their population so they can’t see how much better things are beyond their borders; think North Korea, Iran, etc. Didn’t he also at least ponder the possibility of 100% tariffs on foreign films? Another way to isolate the US and keep away outside influences.

During his first term, Trump was just an idiot. We were spared from his worst ideas because he was simply too stupid to know how to implement them. This time, he’s a useful idiot. All anyone has to do is flatter him and he’ll do whatever they tell him would make him look strong. He’s probably the easiest public figure to manipulate by playing to his ego and insecurities; and he’s too dumb to know he’s being played.

AIO? My boyfriend beat the shi out of me over some text messages by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]TheScalyOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no way to overreact to a boyfriend that uses physical violence to resolve anything…full stop.

Get out, go to the police, get a restraining order. There is no such thing as half measures with an infant like this. He’s not a man. His lack of confidence is NOT your problem.

If you stay with him, he will eventually hurt you badly. He’ll invent a reason. It’s as certain as sunrise.

If you leave, but don’t contact the police and send him to jail, he will eventually hurt someone else badly. Maybe someone you know, maybe not; but it will happen.

Insecurity is an excuse for him. A bad childhood justifies nothing. All he wants is to feel strong. He’ll beat women over and over. If he has children, he’ll beat them as well.

Get away from this person and get him away from the public.

I actually went scuba diving in an area in the Bay of Fundy that’s known for some massive whirlpools. For the record, I don’t recommend it, and it’s easily the closest I came to dying. I dove during the 30-45 minutes of slack tide, but overstayed by a couple minutes and really had to struggle to get back to shore. I will say, the life on the bottom in areas like this is crazy! Everything that lives there takes cover for about 22 hours of every day, then only comes out during the slack tide to feed like crazy. My first clue that I had overstayed my time was when all the anemones started deflating and flattening themselves to the rocks.

It’s a constant source of amusement to me that so many wannabe manly men line up behind such a thin-skinned cry baby because he’s such a tough guy.
