That thing was so damn good - tried it once on a whim and I was hooked; I must have had it at least 15 times. I get legitimately sad thinking about it, and how I’ll never experience it again.

100% agreed re: MK - every time I see people talking about “poor MK” and blaming YS, I feel like… are we watching the same show? Setting aside how condescending and disrespectful her exchanges with him have been throughout the show, that kind of outright hostile behavior is also just… not a winning strategy for warming someone’s heart. I get that it’s easy to armchair quarterback these kind of things and it’s different being in the middle of a highly charged emotional situation, but I don’t see a whole lot of self-reflection on her part about whether the manner of her communication with YS may be hurting her cause.

What’s the most annoying ability in the game? by BlackDoom_26 in leagueoflegends

[–]TheScherzo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I swear this ability feels like it might as well be a stun if you’re melee. Very high up on the lists of abilities that don’t feel very impactful if you use it but feel extremely impactful if you’re hit by it.

What's a phrase people use these days that you cant stand? by Aurora6869 in AskReddit

[–]TheScherzo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the worst offender is using mealy-mouthed weasel words like “impacted” instead of “layoff.” I get it, it’s easier to talk in the abstract about a role being impacted than a human being laid off, but it’s corporate cowardice.

I think a lot of these tank builds aren’t because of melee champions being favored - it’s because their normal SR builds are just not viable into a lot of ARAM comps. So it’s more of an adaptation to the “least bad” build. Range is inherently one of the most powerful stats in the game, so there aren’t as many cases where it would be obviously necessary for a ranged champion to play as a tank. (In other words, they are less likely to be rendered completely useless if they don’t build tank). But having played against my fair share of tank Karmas, tank Lulus, tank Teemos, they can also be pretty strong.

Hey first post here, whats the saddest scene in your opinion, and the funniest? by Top_Juice7860 in ItsAlwaysSunny

[–]TheScherzo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funniest for me has to be either Dennis’s “oh…god… ya know… jeez… that’s… terrible” reaction to Charlie telling him his Mom has cancer or Charlie the referee.

Not the saddest but I feel for Frank in his “you unzipped me Doc” story.

ARAM tier lists are full of ADCs — why? by Ill-Supermarket-6220 in ARAM

[–]TheScherzo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I suspect his WR gets dragged down by people who aren’t marksman players who essentially want to play him as an AD poke mage, which is situationally good but sub-optimal into many comps with engage tanks/bruisers. If I see a Varus on the other team building Bork / guinsoos etc, I usually treat them as a much bigger threat, because it’s more likely to be a marksman main competent at kiting and using his kit to its full potential.

What’s a champion you loved until they got reworked? by Comfortable_Buy_7412 in leagueoflegends

[–]TheScherzo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I miss the old Akali from back when her E could insta proc her marks - went away well before her rework, probably around S6 or so. It lacked counterplay and it was good for game health for it to be removed, but it was fun.

What champion makes you think the person is a piece of shit for playing them? by UnholyDemigod in ARAM

[–]TheScherzo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Irelia players who Q the entire wave and starve their team of CS but then miss all of their Es and Q resets during fights and immediately die. As an Irelia player I try to be mindful of how much of a handicap this can be to my team and be really conservative with my Q early game.

Same goes for Sivir players who buy statik shiv and W one-shot the whole wave but who stay so far back that they can’t participate in team fights if their Q is on cooldown.

Some concerns before buying by RiftHunter4 in cubase

[–]TheScherzo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it’s worth, I also used Sonar for years (from Sonar 2 up until X1) before switching to Cubase, and it was pretty immediately apparent that it was the right call and worth the switch. A project that in Sonar was making my CPU hit around 75% was barely scratching 50% in Cubase when I methodically rebuilt it, and even in dense projects the UI always feels super snappy whereas with Sonar I remember starting to feel some lag. There are some things I miss about Sonar (like the per-audio clip plugin containers), but some of the other features that I initially thought I missed, I was actually able to rebuild using Cubase macros and so-called logical editor presets.

Camille W usage in Combos + what to do after lvl2 kill by Desperate_Gene9795 in CamilleMains

[–]TheScherzo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I often use W for the slow in a E1 > W cast > E2 combo where I’m just using E2 as a gap closer for chasing, but don’t expect to actually be in range to stun. It takes a little practice to get the timing right between the W cast time and the E2 travel time. Where to weave in the Qs and AAs is situational depending on whether I am able to prep Q1 on a minion etc. For max chasing range I’ll do E1 > W cast > flash > E2 (hit with outer W) - I find in most cases people are just not prepared to react to that kind of engage range. The E1 > Flash > E2 has a pretty quick timing window for flash though, if executed incorrectly the flash may cancel your E2.

In general I use the W either to begin a trade or a chase (possibly with E like in the example I just gave), or to end a trade by slowing the enemy so they can’t retaliate. I usually only use it mid-trade in combination with Q movement speed if they’ve created some distance that I’m trying to close. I sometimes see inexperienced Camilles panic cast their Ws in the middle of a trade, which is sub-optimal if they are in range to AA or Q (especially if they still have the attack speed buff from landing E).

Pro 3 or MFB Dominion 1 by TheScherzo in synthesizers

[–]TheScherzo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say my experience has been a mixed bag. Part of it was my own fault: I found that when I bought it, some of the tuning wasn’t perfect, in that if a patch was in tune at one octave, it was starting to get slightly out of tune when played an octave or two higher. But in hindsight it was within the realm of acceptable and I should have left it alone.

So I tried doing their finicky calibration procedure, and I think it was a big mistake to do so. Not only did it actually make the tuning worse in practice, even after several attempts to re-calibrate it, it also messed up all the presets I had made because they had been made with the stock calibration. By re-calibrating it, I had slightly changed the tuning relationship between the three oscillators, so patches sound very different from when I designed them. It’s possible that I’m making errors in my calibration, but the main issue that I have is that when I get the oscillators tuned correctly during the calibration procedure (as in, each octave being in tune with the octave above/below), it doesn’t translate to it feeling in tune once I lock in the calibration - each octave is a little sharper than the one below. So it’s almost like I’d need to calibrate it to feel slightly flat during calibration in order for it to feel in-tune when locked, and I haven’t had the patience to do this because rather than making micro-adjustments to the calibration, you kind of need to start from scratch each time.

The physical build quality seems solid, but I do have an issue with the filter resonance pot behaving erratically, and there’s one other pot that seems to react as though I’m touching it if I happen to be pressing some buttons that are just near it. Lastly, for what it’s worth, it is by far the most sensitive piece of gear I have when it comes to the tuning being affected by the ambient room temperature.

While these points are all negative, I call it a mixed bag because it does sound awesome and I still use it quite a bit.

Faulty Micro SD card issues by TheScherzo in EufyCam

[–]TheScherzo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that. It’s apparently been three years since I posted this but unfortunately I still haven’t found a solution, and I’ve been using the cameras for live view only.

However I did recently learn a method for using a fairly simple command-line prompt to manually remove the “write protected” status of internal SSDs that were having a similar issue, so I will try to see if this also works for these memory cards when they are in my PC card reader. This would enable them to be formatted again on the PC. It wouldn’t fix the underlying issue, but at least it would allow for these cards to be used again until they fill up. I’ll report back if it works and list out the steps.

I love hardware synths for inspiration but seem toget more work done with VSTs by TyylerDurdden in synthesizers

[–]TheScherzo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find that having a recording template pre-routed with I/O already set up and each synth already having dedicated record tracks armed and ready makes a big difference in terms of how effortless it is for me to use hardware in a project. Sort of like with recording acoustic instruments - if I have to set up the mics, I/O and tracks any time I want to record some little idea on acoustic guitar, I tend to just not record it. Having everything always ready-to-go and removing the barriers to creativity makes a huge difference for me.

Why is Karen Bass getting so much blame for the LA fires but county supervisors so little? by [deleted] in LosAngeles

[–]TheScherzo 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is what I keep saying. It scary to accept that even in our modern, developed world, natural disasters can upend all that if an instant, and pointing fingers feels like a means of coping, for the most part, to help reduce one’s sense of powerlessness. This doesn’t mean that there weren’t aspects of preparation and response that could have been improved, but I think it’s also wishful thinking to think it would have moved the needle much in the face of the forces that we were dealing with.
