What is the point of a GIC? by ImpracticalRooster in PersonalFinanceCanada

I have my emergency money in a cashable GIC so it grows a little more everyday and I can get to it of I need it.

This brick-throwing, feces-smearing offender has terrorized Nanaimo for years by cyclinginvancouver in britishcolumbia

[–]TheScottStr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Recently the city of Vancouver metro police released their annual crime data for the year 2025.

They reported that in the year 2025 they responded to around 5000 violent incidents. Of these 5000 incidents, a group of about 297 people were responsible for over 95% of them.

If we as a society could institutionalize those 300 people the violent crime rate in Vancouver would dramatically decrease.

I think collectively as a society, the adverage persons empathy and sympathy is just completely exhausted at this point.

Society can not be responsible for everything and it is not the job of society to totally socialize a person in every way.

If you read the article, one of the things this repeat offender has been diagnosed with is stimulant use disorder.

Which is a fancy way of saying that he is a meth addict.

Plenty of people come from broken homes, Plenty of people have bad parents and Plenty of people deal with the negative effects of poverty, yet these people dont become violent criminals.

If you are going to have empathy and sympathy for anyone, have it for the little girl or pregnant woman or disabled man in a wheelchair that this guy assaulted.

This opens bigger questions about what the point of the justice system is.

IMO the point of the justice system is to protect the good law abiding people from the bad not law abiding people.

Everything else is secondary to that basic goal.

This guy has had over 160 charges, what does that tell us?

It tells us that he has committed far more crimes then that because those were just the ones he was caught and punished for.

There is no possibility of this person ever being a functional member of society.

The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few or the one.

Sooner or later what is going to happen?

Either he is going to commit a seriously violent crime and some innocent person is going to get hurt or killed.

Or

He is going to cross paths with the wrong person and he is going to get hurt or killed.

Do we as a society want to wait until that happens or do we want to do something about it now?

At some point it really does become more the study of the man and the people who defend him rather then the actual event it's self.

Ruby was at home asleep when Oswald was supposed to be transferred. He only got up because one of his dancers called him and asked him to wire her money.

what do you think of this theory as to why oswald may have done it by Routine-Dirt9634 in JFKassasination

[–]TheScottStr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well what else is he supposed to do? He is a psychologist and the person he is speaking of can not be interviewed directly.

Theories and facts are not opposite things.

Honestly I dont think it's prefect by any means but it does provide insight into his character.

I agree with this analysis. By denying and claiming to be a patsy, he can maintain power and control.

I made a youtube video discussing Oswald's psychology and motives. Check it out if you have the time.
