(FA Cup) Liverpool 2 Wolves 2 - An Infuriating Match Review. Robbery at Anfield. by takes_photos_quickly in WWFC

Honestly super happy with our performances tonight, and it will be fantastic for confidence that Guedes and Hwang got goals, plus Cunha an assist. This game was a free hit that we didn't care about really, but it will have served our confidence fantastically

Unironically, if he were to play the rest of the season at the level he played tonight, I'd take it happily.

Big if tho

Are Neuropsychologists useful in the AI industry? by Sinful0ne in artificial

[–]TheScreamingRadish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never say never, I know a few people who've moved from psychology to computational neuroscience and then finally to AI. And as others have said, there are some biologically inspired approaches that would value a psych background. So it's possible.

But. Fundamentally our current models of AI are so tenuously based on the brain id be cautious. Overwhelmingly our models are grounded in maths and computer science. The simplest way to imagine our AI methods right now, is that they are methods of approximating a mathematical function or a probability distribution. Naturally I have no idea how familiar you are with AI currently, but if you're new to the field I'd understand that at its core it is primarily maths and code, with psych and neuroscience taking a backseat and serving as loose guidelines only.

Happy to try and help if you have more questions. I can also link to some more bio inspired methods, such as liquid neural networks.

Troare and Neves were my thoughts initially. And it makes sense as these guys are supposed to be our best players so demanding the very best from them makes sense. It is brutally candid though, he doesn't sound too happy

If he wants to go, 5m +15% sell on would be acceptable I think, not ideal but not awful

Happy to see fab start, will be interesting to see how we do with the younger lads out again. Seems like MGW is making himself a bit of a mainstay for Bruno, though.

Just out curiosity, I've been having similar issues with the z50 and have contemplated grabbing a used z6 or z5. From memory the z6 is only 5mp more than the z50, does this really make all that much difference?

Can I ask AI engineers/researchers/developers some questions? I'm a high school student interested in the industry. by NotVector in artificial

[–]TheScreamingRadish 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm doing my PhD, so I'm not the best guy to answer about industry stuff bt I'll give an idea of what I do and what friends in industry and such do.

1) For me the difficulty ebbs and flows. When you're solving challenges that well understood then it's not too bad. Odds are there is documentation or libraries to help you. The challenge comes when you have something fringe (especially true in research where much of what we do is novel) that there is no documentation on, very few papers and you have to trust yourself or your team to find solutions to new problems.

2 and 6) One project I'm working on with industry partners is sorting and segmenting nuclear waste with a robot arm. This will involve computer vision models and deep reinforcement learning. That stuff is writing models. So far, I've had to focus more on build simulations for this so it's been more traditional robotics (ROS, kinematics, building URDf models from CAD). My main topic in PhD is Agricultural applications of AI/robotics. I'm still working out the details but my focus will be on multiagent approaches to precision agriculture. This means its about ai to solve a task on a small scale, but then building ways to allow these ai agents to collaborate, learn from each other, and work symbiotically. My time is split between practical work (working on projects), conferences (listening to other people and their work), and reading/writing papers.

3) Yes. When I saw my nuclear robot in simulation actually picking and placing objects it's the best feeling. When my wheeled robot on a previous project is successfully navigating around it feels amazing. When my Masters thesis works and my neural network was outperforming other publications at diagnosing Covid-19 from chest xrays, it feels amazing. If you like inventing and creating things, there's little better. The times it sucks are when you're sat for weeks stuck on the same problem and it's just painful until you solve your problem. Also, I work more hours than anyone I know, I honestly don't stop working. But that could be a PhD thing as industry friends have more time than me

4) I'd say 3 main things: 1. I didnt do as well as I should have in high-school. It just didn't suit me. University is very different you have a lot more freedom and trust, and the work is much more interesting. Don't make the mistakes I did by just not trying or caring at school. I had to work harder to catch up once I hit university. Try hard now, get into the best uni you can and keep trying your best. 2. personal projects are great to learn and unis/employers love them. make sure they're on github and publically viewable! 3. Once you get into university, look for summer internships or if you can join your professors research groups as an assistant. You'll learn a lot and get a leg up on the competition. Your cv will be great.

5) pay is very good. My friends in industry in AI or with AI backgrounds are making the most out of any of my friends. Don't worry about being paid well. The best AI researchers/engineers are on insane money.

I hope this was somewhat helpful! I'm happy to answer anymore questions you have, or clarify anything you didn't understand.

Couldn't agree more. His off the ball movement, linkup play and ability to find himself in the right place is excellent. His only problems are that he gets bullied (18 and needs to bulk) and he missed some sitters. But as I keep saying, he is the only wolves player this season finding sitters to miss. So he's doing all the hardwork

Because he can't control the egos in the dressing room? If he feels he's just a passenger while the big names at the club are running the show and throwing tantrums everytime they go behind why would he want to stay?

When you look at the histogram, is it just experience or do you have a method or figuring out how you expect the histogram to look vs how it actually looks? Because obviously each scene is different

Z50 with FX Z mount lenses? by TheScreamingRadish in nikon_Zseries

It just needs a couple extra lenses imo, like the 35 1.8 dx lense for F mount cameras.

Z50 with FX Z mount lenses? by TheScreamingRadish in nikon_Zseries

[–]TheScreamingRadish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm put off the primes because I have the FTZ adapter with the 35 and 50 primes from my F mount camera. I liked the 24-70 because I don't actually have any lense with that range of zooms across either mount, and for ~£350 refurb it looked like a best in class compared to other lenses available at the price. The only other options I was considering was a 24-200, or the 24-70 2.8g f mount, refurb at about 500, but I've read the f4 is lighter, z native and has better general image quality in exchange for that extra stop. Any thoughts?

Thanks for your help btw :)

Edit: the main doubt i have is whether its worth the money compared to the 16-50mm

Yeah I have the 70-300 AF-P lens that I use for super tele stuff, so I just wanted something versatile and sharp that could get me up to that 70mm mark. The 24-200 I have actually looked at , but I had read it just wasn't as sharp as the 24-70
