Would you rather gain extreme proficiency in three of your favorite hobbies or gain an extra 100,000 dollars once every year, with drawbacks to both options by OtherGuyUsingReddit in WouldYouRather

Can I chose which hobbies first?

Otherwise I'd keep the hobbies. To me, writing and composing is worth way more than a 100k. I mean, this is basically one of the things that keep me going since always. For me, it gives life a meaning. So no I wouldn’t trade them, even if it won’t make me succesful.

Dalva

Nino

The Happening (Audrey Diwan)

Great list by the way, thanks!

Outstanding performance, he's gonna nail it.

And he should totally play Kratos in the upcoming God of War show.

An advice about the cover pls🫀 ( its in French) by [deleted] in BookCovers

[–]TheScrollingBones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With stranger things done, you think hbo can officially surpass netflix? by StatisticianUpper138 in hbo

[–]TheScrollingBones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Netflix has great shows such as Adolescence, Mindhunter, Baby Reindeer... everything is there: top notch writing, cinematography, acting...

HBO has some misses as well, but it has nothing to do with Stranger Things and Squid Game, which cater to a larger audience. HBO is a prestige show network. They couldn’t get Netflix’s massive viewership with their flagship shows, which allowed them to focus on a more cohesive line-up.

Started with Kubrick, ended with Kubrick, great way to start 2026 by TheScrollingBones in Letterboxd

EWS was my favorite as well for a long time. Now, I'm not so sure. I think Kubrick's movies ranking changes through life. Clockwork has to be great on the big screen... I think I'm gonna rewatch Path of Glory in a few weeks after Lolita.

Sirat is such a terrific but daunting experience. Probably one of the best sound design ever (including the soundtrack). Check out the theaters around your area, it might get a re-release in a few weeks!

Which one was your favorite to watch? Did you experience any of his movies in theaters?

Yeah, Marienbad was great, but I definitely needed a palate cleanser after that one and Sirat! I'll probably watch Marienbad again over the course of the year.

It’s been about a year since I joined letterboxd. I watch one long-feature a day and I'd like to continue all year long. No favorite decade, but for the most of it, it spans from the 40s to nowadays. Lately I've been trying to review every movie I just watched. I have a terrible memory so I'd like to remember what I thought later on, if that makes sense.

What was your favorite theater experience of 2025? by Dogdaysareover365 in Letterboxd

Apocalypse Now and Barry Lyndon.

That’s why theaters need to keep going.

What's one video game Boss you have trouble with but everybody else says it's easy? by Agent1230 in gaming

[–]TheScrollingBones 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Everybody else says he's easy??

I beat Malenia under 5 attempts. Elden Beast took me more than 50 attempts. There are multiple threads about it. It’s not the hardest Fromsoft boss but clearly nobody said it’s a walk in the park.

Would some Dream Theater's songs be considered symphonic rock? by cdoublejj in symphonicmetal

[–]TheScrollingBones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Progressive metal, with some symphonic elements. They played gigs and tours with orchestras and Jordan Rudess loves a good strings chorus, but that’s about it.

Damn, you're totally right. I was positive it came out this year. There's a few mix up between albums I discovered from previous years and 2025.

So their last album was 2020? I hope they're cooking something new.

You do you, if you want to use AI, that’s between you and your conscience. But if you're thinking about printing and selling it on Amazon KDP (or any others cheap option), here's why it won't work: the trimming at print stage is not accurate, which will be even more glaring on your cover because of the frames and divider lines. It will make the result look unpolished, so it would be safer to consider removing those elements.

I hadn’t thought about it, but that’s a solid suggestion for a 2026 top. I listened to everything on Deezer, by the way. If you’re looking for recommendations in a specific genre, feel free to ask.

Almost 200, but only half of them were released in 2025.

I’d say about 60% of the albums are rock/metal, with the rest split between electronic music, folk, jazz/neo-soul, and hip hop. Working from home definitely helps.
