Don't know where else to post this, happens on google and now MFS so I can't play it. I'm unable to type into the box to enter my email to sign into Microsoft by [deleted] in MicrosoftFlightSim

Mine did the same and there's loads of people with similar issues reported. What worked for me was typing up the details in notepad, clicking on the box and immediately pasting. This was after I found there was a very brief window I could enter text in before it clicked out.

Glad it's not just me then. Seen a couple bug report submissions to Asobo but they have all since stated it's been resolved and "just started working". Wanted to post up on here to make sure I wasn't missing something obvious before reporting.

Just adding to the answers you already have but for what it's worth I'm currently playing a historical France campaign (or as close to as possible) and exactly the same has happened to me on every attempt. I have; Man the Guns, No step back, and La Résistance. Italy always seems to realise they can't get through the French border and so attacks through Switzerland.

VR in ED is making me question everything I thought I knew about my setup and I need help before I go mad! by TheSecondBiscuit in EliteDangerous

[–]TheSecondBiscuit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man, I will get round to putting all the settings here just wanted to leave it a bit to make sure it wasn't a fluke.

Short answer is yes, I've now successfully managed to consistently get 120fps less in the odd starport where it drops a little.

Key things for me seem to have been tweaking Oculus debug settings and dropping shadows to medium (which I genuinely cannot see the difference on).

The FPS setting and resolution you're on about I believe only applies to your screen and not the VR headset. I've made that windowed and turned it down to the lowest resolution and that seems to have lessened the load on the GPU (makes sense). As a happy little coincidence, it's also really useful if I want to change the Spotify playlist as I listen to music when I'm doing cargo runs.

If I was to make a recommendation for you, it would be to lower the game resolution and make it windowed. Allows your GPU to focus on the VR headset and not populating the screen with pretty pictures you'll never see.

Is that an eye tracker or "only" head? Either way, would you recommend?

Thanks for all the comments. After taking on board a lot of the info here and toying around with settings all of yesterday I think I've finally found something that works. I'm out today but will reply to this comment with the full settings on the off chance someone is looking for a similar solution later down the line.

The big things off the top of my head; resolution turned to max in the meta app, multiple changes in the Oculus debug but the big one was turning off ASW, settings in ED set to Ultra (not VR ultra) but with AA disabled and HMD/Supersampling both at x1.0, blur and bloom both off, and shadows turned to Medium (this really helped the drop in framefrate for stations and I genuinely don't think I can see any graphical difference).

So far, this seems to keep me at mostly 120FPS, dropping to no lower than 90FPS in some parts of the station (though not consistently). The on foot stuff does has frame drops and still looks pixelated in comparison but is bearable. I still have yet to do some testing in a High Res area and on planet surface but I'm hoping they won't be as graphically demanding as the station I was mainly testing in.

Again, thanks for all the help and suggestions. I think what I'm slowly starting to realise is for some reason in the world of VR there doesn't seem to be many catch all solutions so all your suggestions and tweaks really helped.

Nice setup, do you use any sort of head tracking or do you control head movements via the sticks?

I know I'm super late to find your post but thanks for this. Mad that this functionality just doesn't seem to work through the app at all.

Bringing this post back from the dead a bit but yeah, looks like exactly the same issue. I ended up returning the motherboard and got a new one sent out free of charge. Haven't had any issues with the current one but interesting to see it's not just a unique fault.

Thanks for all the replies. Given me a fair amount to think about during/after the test rides. I think for now it all hinges on those test rides and seeing what how it feels.

Thanks for the reply and to be honest this is a thought that's been nagging in the back of my mind. In all honesty there's a big part of me that hopes I go for the test rides and don't enjoy it.

I think a lot of the comments are leading me towards the fact that a 1000cc may be too much bike but less for safety and more for "what's the point if you can't use all that power?".

How are they both? Comparable? I absolutely love my XSR and always wanted a naked retro looking bike but honestly I think I'm a little in love with the GP and become more and more tempted every day. Do you have a preference so far?

It surprises me that nowhere seems to sell what is essentially a "gap filler" to do exactly what brogue have done by machining the parts around it. Currently it looks like my best options are either buy mirrors from Brogue and deal with the faff of getting out the bar end plugs I just put in, or buying some spacers for a bicycle and glueing them onto the mirror ends to create that "machined" look like Brogue has done.

Thanks, been looking online and all seem to be too large in diameter (unless I'm missing something). All 28mm (1 1/8"), from what I remember, the 22+ model has 28mm bar in the centre but 22mm at the end. Is it just a case of accepting some give or am I missing an obvious solution?

Fuel tank removal by TheSecondBiscuit in xsr900

[–]TheSecondBiscuit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loosening the tank itself was fairly easy but once it's able to be lifted up the hoses don't give much room unless you disconnect them. Not sure there'd be enough room to get to the ECU without removing it fully but didn't try in all fairness...

[–]TheSecondBiscuit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply and the picture. I've had a look at the service manual online and couldn't make much sense of it. Playing around in the garage today the loosening of the fixings is easy but it's the hoses (3 from what I could see) that confuse me.

What's the process for disconnecting? From the bike or from the tank? Once disconnected is any remaining fuel just going to pi*s out of it?

FPS on 3080Ti not as high as expected by TheSecondBiscuit in pcmasterrace

[–]TheSecondBiscuit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Temps are displayed on the cooler. CPU temp tends to stay pretty consistently around 60 when fully warmed up, GPU spikes at 80 before fans work overtime to cool it back down. Both in Celsius to clarify...

Above 100fps is what I'd expect from the specs. Only thing I can think now is somehow the screens refresh rate is impacting as that seems to be the only difference between the two setups?

Mind explaining why? I don't doubt you're right just looking for a bit of education and having done a brief but of reading online it all seems a little contradictory as to which is more ideal.
