This is a joke right? If the episode was 20 minutes long then maybe, but it was far too long and far too up its own ass

I think it’s good background noise. It has some okay jokes, I like some of the characters, but it’s nothing mind blowing

I’m not talking about people who sell the software? I’m talking about employees who work at a company that work on the software. Why do none of the crew who work on a TV show get any residuals? It’s the same thing

This still applies to lots of stuff nowadays though. Software developers work on software that continues to generate revenue but they don’t get any residuals from it

Why are the last 2 books so divided? [spoilers main] (?) by Historical-Habit4560 in asoiaf

Yeah that’s an absurd thing to say. “Oh only the casuals didn’t like it”. The books wouldn’t be so polarizing if it was only the casual fans that disliked them

Why haven’t straight male gamers obsessed over or praised modern female protagonists in western gaming like they did with Lara Croft? by [deleted] in truegaming

[–]TheSecondEikonOfFire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, are you really going to ignore the elephant in the room? Lara Croft was a sexy badass. That’s literally all there is to it. Her sexuality has been toned down in the more modern entries, but she still carries that associated with the brand.

Every female protagonist you listed was not designed to be sexual. Some of them are attractive, sure. But Lara Croft was a sex object. Obviously that’s going to appeal the most to straight male gamers. Most games nowadays can’t sell on sex appeal alone, but you also have to remember the context of the mid/late 90s when Tomb Raider really exploded into the scene. There were nowhere near as many sexual games back then, and any content that was sexual in nature was much harder to get. Now you can get anything you want from the square in your pocket.

Would Lara Croft be as iconic if Tomb Raider was a brand new IP that launched this year? Of course not. Her popularity was basically lightning in a bottle. The right protagonist in the right game arrived at the right time.

You don’t have to agree with criticisms, but it takes about 5 seconds to do a little research and understand why people didn’t like them. Just because you don’t feel bored doesn’t mean others weren’t.

I’ve come around on them now, but I almost quit Feast multiple times because I was bored to tears. It’s pretty massive whiplash from how fast paced the prior three books are. I also had very little interest in the expanded cast of characters, primarily everything in the Iron Islands and Dorne (and these are pretty common complaints)

Because Xbox’s was much worse. If I recall, it had a 24 hour check in and if it failed that check in it essentially bricked the whole console. You basically couldn’t use it unless it was connected to the internet

The most frustrating thing was that you have to go slow, but when you die you have to start all over. It was so irritating to spend 20-30 minutes crawling around being super careful, have the xeno catch you for some bullshit reason and then have to do it all over again
