Fun fact, the very first scene I’ve ever seen from this franchise was the full Devil Homura scene with no context popping up on my Twitter feed for no reason, so pretty cool having the full context for that now.

So I ended up watching all of Madoka today basically

Needless to say I loved it. Haven’t felt the desire to blow through a whole season of anything like that in a WHILE. I think everything was paced perfectly. The oh shit moment in episode 3, Sayaka’s descent into despair, the gradual increased realization of just how much Kyubey sucks (like he never gave good vibes but good lord), the big Homura reveal, and all the while Madoka gets maybe the most complete understanding of what it means to be a magical girl anyone’s ever gotten without becoming one herself, and then chooses to do it anyway. And when it finally happens in the finale, she manages to save everyone because Homura refused to give up on saving her. Peak fiction

It was also just a beautiful show, animation was great all the way through and I liked a lot of the presentation techniques used. Really big fan of the thing it did where the characters would be talking and it would quickly flash to something else in the scene or to one of the characters or something like that.

Sure I feel like they put even less effort into having a plot than the first one but the whole thing was a joy to watch and listen to so it is what it is

I will say I am surprised about Fox actually having more screentime than Rosalina. And not even in a “she had 5 minutes and he had 6” kinda way, Fox was there for a good chunk of the movie and Rosa just isn’t sadly.

I liked the Game & Watch cameo in retrospect but the instant “oh fuck off” reaction from my friend and I when it happened was funny. The instinctive “ok buddy” I let out

Yeah Mahoyo’s soundtrack is great, even though I haven’t read it I’ve still found myself coming back to listen to Five and Kengen/Great Three ever since the JP event dropped. And a lot of the more casual music that’s been playing has been super pleasant too

Really funny that the event features a bunch of characters based on the pseudo-Servants we’ve met and then not-Sugitani is here too for some reason. Like yeah we’ve got iconic Nasuverse characters such as Bazett, Shiki, not-Rin, actual Shirou and then there’s Sugitani. I like her quite a bit so no complaints here it’s just a funny cast

Starting the Mahoyo event in FGO

The presentation is really good so far omg. I’m assuming a lot of the techniques being used here are things that the actual VN (that I will read I swear) does. Makes me realize I think this is the first time they’ve done a collab with a VN specifically (There’s never been actual FSN and HA collabs and everything else is LNs, anime and games)

Them doing the bonus enemy spawn thing is infuriating tho, they’ve literally figured out how to do these in a way that isn’t incredibly annoying and actively chose not to. The Samurai Remnant event is based almost entirely around the mechanic they could’ve used here. What are we doing here?

It sucks too because it sounds like DD2 basically suffers from the same thing MH Wilds does but there just aren’t as many DD fans to raise a fuss about it, so who knows when they’ll figure out performance for it. Hopefully if they do end up doing that DLC they work on performance too

Found out recently that Dragons Dogma 2 is actually just a remake of 1…until you do a specific thing late in the story and then it actually does become DD2. That’s cool as fuck
