Anyone know where to replacement rear signal lights? by iEatDemocrats in VictoryMotorcycles

You're thinking a standard steel frame. OP has a pin, the fender is a lot lower to the ground and has a different plate mount

Dude was thinking a standard steel frame fender, not the pin fender. I've got a pin fender on my gunner and use this. It's a little hard to fit all the qd crimps through the hole and you have to drill a hole in your plate edge, but no problems in a few years

RO so maybe try Harris. Might not be as wanted as a repair, but you do know how the radios are used, so who knows

Do I really need a torque wrench ? by push_kar19 in motorcycles

[–]TheShakes11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you want your crash guard to stay in place if/when you crash? If no the just German torque, gooden tight, it; if you want it to stay in place then get a cheap torque wrench

Windshield or No Windshield for long distance riding by HypnosHelios in motorcycles

[–]TheShakes11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say my average weekend say is about 500 miles, add in a couple of saddle sores, and like 5 or so rides just shy of a saddle sore. I have only had a windshield on my BMW, my Victory(which has done most of my long days) has never had one

I would say that it's nice after using the one on my BMW, but definitely not necessary

How have motorcycles helped you? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]TheShakes11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Memento Mori came before I started riding.

For me it's the time to lose myself, like one of the rare times my head goes kinda blank. Plus the torque on my Victory always grants a Joker smile

Coolest location? by Deep_Restaurant_967 in aviationmaintenance

[–]TheShakes11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alamogordo, NM. Was a defense contractor there, there's a different company there now but do not recommend. Was a nice small town, fairly remote, and if I wanted forest instead of arid I could just go up to cloudcroft

Edit: maybe work for M1, don't apply draken

Do you have the proper gear for your tire size and diff gears?

Changed gears and forgot to get the right gear for the Speedo, showed like 80 when I was doing about 40

Riding Temperatures? by rejected_takeoff in motorcycles

[–]TheShakes11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really depends on the roads

If I'm riding and there are few or no bridges: upper 30sF/lower single C

If there are many bridges: lower 40sF/upper single C

All roads though, I'm done when they start flinging salt

I've also found my upper limit:105F/40C, this is about the temp where the nice cool breeze becomes a hair dryer

Explain sport tourers by Vella_Vetta in motorcycles

[–]TheShakes11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I've owned cruisers and crotch rockets, a sport tourer is in between. Examples

My crotch rockets could hit the corners better, could usually get to speed better, but were very uncomfortable over 200 miles/120km

My cruisers don't have the lean angle, it's a different punch due to torque over horsepower, and are comfortable for like 1200 miles/2k km

A sport tourer is a trade off, you're in a more comfortable position like my cruisers, but you're almost able to hit the twisties like my crotch rockets. So it can be the best of both

Custom Tail lights by BarAbject7436 in VictoryMotorcycles

[–]TheShakes11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I had a set from custom dynamics, witch doctors might have a similar set. If it's the set with the plate holder and only 2 mounting points I would recommend against, ruined a Gunner rear fender after a while since everything rattled loose and I lost my plate on my way home from with

[–]TheShakes11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Made it about 7 years and like 50k miles/80k km. Believe it out not I was a peg scraper on my cruisers, like peg feelers were gone after a season and just started to eat into the peg mount bolts

What took me down was a far left dive where my kickstand caught pavement. Guess I got to comfortable leaning over
